When Did GOP Become Party of Illegal Immigration, Entitlements?
The Post Chronicle ^ | 3/4/06 | John W. Lillpop

When I was considering which political party to affiliate with, it was my understanding that the GOP was comprised of conservatives who believed in:

* Strong national defense * Fiscal responsibility--Balanced budgets, Controlled spending * Law and order * Minimal federal government * States' rights and autonomy * Low taxation * Individual responsibility * America First!

These principles meant that the GOP was committed to the security of the American people, and to shielding the American entrepreneurial spirit from oppressive over-governance. THAT GOP was the party of hope.

The American people awarded THAT party with control over the White House and Congress, expecting that Republicans would govern in accordance with conservative values.

Probably started about the same time that the Democrats started turning into Socialists.

Pelosi is going to be speaker of the house because of the liberal media.

90 percent of gop voted for sensennbrenner's bill on the wall to stop illegals.

90 percent of dems voted against it and pelosi and the hispanic dem caucus went after the dems that voted for it. They are running primaries against the dems that voted for it.

Bush tried to fix social security and the dems promised a filibuster which killed the deal.

Congress passed 39 billion in spending cuts and the dems all voted against it and are now using a clerical error by a non partisan clerk to kill it.

This media is going to make pelosi, hillary rodham, and ruth bader ginsberg's of the world the nexus of power.

And pelosi will have radicals like conyers and rangel as committee chairmen.

I have never feared more about the u.s politically in my life.

We are about to be taken over by the cindy sheehan and al sharpton brigade. Hold on this is going to get real ugly real fast.

Nixon ushered that era in, 1968-1974.

As president, Nixon imposed wage and price controls, indexed Social Security for inflation, and created Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The number of pages added to the Federal Register each year doubled under Nixon. He advocated gun control and eradicated the last remnants of the gold standard. Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and implemented the Philadelphia Plan, the first significant federal affirmative action program.

39 billion, that wasn't a cut. That was barely a reduction in growth. Republicans, Democrats all you really have is politicians. They care only for power and will do whatever is necessary to acquire more.

They will spend till the whole mess collapses then tell their constituents that it's actually a good thing.

I'm disgusted it's all just politics as usual. Grab power where you can and grub money everywhere else. When you get caught, just blame the opposition, after all that's what friends are for.

I don't understand your thinking at all.

Do you want ruth bader ginsberg type judges on the highest court of the land or conservative judges.

Liberals are energerized for 06 while conservative voters are going to sit home and stevens replacement on the supreme court will be hurt by it.

Conservative voters are there own worst enemy. Because of the crash and burn strategy of them we have abortions, affiramtive action.

Turn back to 92 they used the read my lips line to stay home and give us ginsberg and breyer. Clinton did nothing for 8 years and we got 9/11.

And what exactly has been done since 02/2001? More illegal immigration than ever, HUGE spending bills, more intrusive Government, etc...

Sorry, I don't share your head in the sand approach.

Been going on a long time, ET. Once they're law and in place, they're never going to *go away*, IMO. Like the "Money Pit", it's an endless black hole for our taxes, and lib-dem garbage and RINOs feel the need to endlessly *feed it* our hard-earned dollars.

Last year, 100% of the income Americans earned from January 1st to May 3rd (123 days) went to pay taxes. Americans spent more time working to pay taxes than they spent working to own a home, put food on the table, or pay medical expenses.

That's just wrong.

They can't do more than 39 billion because they don't get one democrat vote.

Out of the 230 republicans there are 30 rinos at least so the 200 republicans that want to cut growth get blamed for the 30 rinos from the northeast and west coast.

If you want further cuts you need a bigger margin in the house.

If you want bigger cuts you need 60 senators to be able to defeat a democrat filibuster on social security.

GOP is in the worst position possible. You have no power on legislation without 60 votes in the senate and yet the media lies and says they have power.

The senate is right now in gridlock. Nothing can get passed without harry reid's approval.

Since 2000, the GOP has been acting like a coalition government, rather than a party in leadership.

"Bush tried to fix social security and the dems promised a filibuster which killed the deal."

Bwahahahaha!!!

That was some filibuster. How long did it take the GOP to cave. By my count it was about two seconds.

Way to try and attempt to break the filibuster. Hell, the GOP is turning out to be the equivalent of the French. Or is it they really don't care about cutting Federal spending, hmmmm.

The republicans in the house just voted for a good border bill.

Dems voted against it and the few that voted for it are going down in their primaries.

The only way to fix spending is to fix social security. That is in the trillions. Earmarking is in the tens of billions.

Harry Reid promised a filibuster on social security reform to stop the rate of growth.

If GOP had 60 votes in the senate to stop a filibuster and a big enough margin in the house to keep the balance of power out of chris shay's hands then the spending would be much better.

We have also had 9/11 because of clinton doing nothing for 8 years. Iraq war, afganistan war, 7 major hurricanes in the last few years.

Also clinton left us losing 7 billion in leases in a clerical error for oil leases.

We also have had anwr blocked by the dems. We have dems filibustering medical malpractice reform.

You won't have to be angry about republicans anymore because this country is going to be a one party monopoly of the democrat party. The republican brand name has been so smeared by the media we are going to turn this nation over to hillary rodham and a san francisco liberal for speaker of the house.

This country is going so far left they are running off the road. When Foxnews has the dems winning congressional elections by 14 points get ready for a pelosi dynasty.

Some filibuster?

GOP had no power. You need 60 votes to stop a filibuster. Gop has 55 votes. You needed harry reid's approval for it. The dems sent a letter to bush with 42 dems saying they will never budge on social security. All the power is in harry reid's hands.
