The trashing of the idea of commemorating the great Marine Fighter Pilot, Greg "Pappy" Boyington, a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, by the student leadership of his alma mater, the University of Washington, is nasty and ignorant.
A student leader proclaims she "didn't believe a member of the Marine Corps was an example of the sort of person UW wanted to produce." Another complains "many monuments at UW already commemorate rich white men."

At any rate it is an excellent response via factual historical perspective to the children "leaders" of U of W by an author and a Marine.
it's all about protecting a life style of pseudo-intellectual elitism.
"Congressional Medal of Honor winner"
Again, an individual does not "win" the Medal of Honor. He is awarded the medal. You win a race, a pie eating contest, but not the MOH. (Or a Silver or a Bronze Star for that matter).
Ungrateful twits. Unfortunately, UW has a long history of doing this.
I was a student there in the mid-1970's on a Marine Corps scholarship. IIRC, the law school dean was a retired/reserve Marine colonel who was routinely objected to because he had served in the military. In addition, I was told that before my arrival (1974) the UW ROTC/NROTC building was actually bombed (no injuries but substantial property damage). Incident occurred sometime during the late 60's/early 70's. (Associated with the US incursion into Cambodia to interdict the Ho Chi Minh trail?).
Something I did witness was the large pro-NVA/VC rally that occurred in front of the Husky Union Building (HUB) on the day Saigon fell in 1975. The NROTC Commander (Marine Colonel) went down in uniform to give respectful witness for the fallen. IIRC, when asked for comment by the student news reporters at the rally, he did express the hope that better times for the Vietnamese people would follow now that the war was finally over. He was, in turn, repectfully treated by the crowd - so there were limits to their rude behavior.
Don't know if that would be the case now.
BTTT
Ping!
That's Marion, Eddie.
Canoe U failed in their efforts to teach you how to spell. I'd expect this from a grunt but not a winger. Unsat. Bends and thrusts, begin.
