Laura Bush: U.S. ready for a woman president

Preferably a Republican one, first lady says

Laura Bush, wife of President Bush, said Tuesday the United States is ready to have a woman president -- preferably a Republican.

She offered her opinion while touring an exhibit at the National Museum of Women in the Arts with Marta Sahagun de Fox, wife of Mexican President Vicente Fox, and Eliane Karp de Toledo, wife of Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo. The exhibit features archaeological finds from Mexico and Peru that show that, long before Europeans arrived, women served as warriors, governors, artists, poets and priestesses.

"They really show what a heritage we have in our hemisphere, a really very, very organized and intellectual society," Mrs. Bush said.

During an exchange with reporters, Mrs. Bush was asked if the United States was prepared to have a woman in the Oval Office.

"Sure, absolutely," she replied. "I'm voting for the Republican woman."

There are both men and women who prefer a male President.

But I suspect most of them would prefer a female that matches their party and policy rather than a male who does not.

Sure. If she's as conservative as Michell Malkin, Ann Coulter, or Phyllis Schafly.

My wife and I have a bet. She believes that a black man
will be president before any woman is. I believe that a
white woman will be president before any black man.

Naturally. If a woman was the front runner for the GOP nomination the MSM wouldn't be nearly as intrigued with the idea of a female President.

"Me too--Condi Rice!!"

Only flaw is that Rice has only said about twenty times she is not running for president. Darn.

So if Condi were to win in 2008 who'd win your bet?

I could care less who is president provided they share similar beliefs.

To me, a liberal white patsie panzi male is far worse than almost anyone else.

What if it's a black woman?

""They really show what a heritage we have in our hemisphere, a really very, very organized and intellectual society," Mrs. Bush said."

Is she referring to the wonderful Mexican culture where they cut out peoples' hearts en masse and the "priests" ate them while the victims were still twitching? That culture?

I have to respectfully disagree with the First Lady on this one. I don't even like to work with or for women, much less have one as my President...and before anyone says anything, I happen to be a woman.

I've always thought that we would have a black President before we'd have a female one...and that the first black President would be a Conservative. (I have nothing to back this up...it's just a feeling I've always had.)

What about that white "woman" who may run for President who's in a sham marriage with the "First Black President?" That'd cover all the bases at your house, LOL!

You're describing Margaret Thatcher. Sadly, she is not available.
