People don't go to bars to buy groceries, they are there to drink alcohol; now, if we are to charge them with public intoxication we might need to rewrite the standards to clarify what constitutes being drunk so that we may all agree on why we shouldn't close bars.
I know this is a little off topic but speaking of buying groceries, I wonder when they will start arresting people for criminal intention to buy junk food as soon as they walk into the local grocery.
"...we might need to rewrite the standards..."
Agreed. How about this as a point of departure for our wonderful legislators: Falling down drunk inside the establishment is OK. Falling down drunk outside the establishment is OK, unless you meet the standard for disorderly conduct. Then call it drunk and disorderly.
*NO* tolerance for DUI/DWI.
I'm OK with drinking, I'm no teetotaler myself. But considering the potential for changing somebody else's life, I think people need to be held accountable.
