God bless our tarheels and those coming in to replace them! I'm not far from all the guys and gals at Lejeune, Bragg, Seymour Johnson, Pope AFB and the rest and I always take the time to thank those in uniform for the job they do. Pray for them and their families for the sacrafices they make for us so that we may live free.

We drove down to Camp Lejeune early this week for our son's homecoming. It was cold and raining but we couldn't have cared less. A tremendous shout went up from the families as the first Marine stepped off the bus and after a little searching through the crowd there he was, tired and hungry and smiling.
The article SandRat posted is pretty much what our Corporal told us in between eating and sleeping. We only had 24 hours with him before he had to report back but it was enough and we are so thankful.

We are all happy for his safe return and his service to this country. He has memories that will last a lifetime.
Give him a pat on the back and a big "Thank You" from me the next time you see him.

Thank you both. It is such a relief to have him back in the USA. The 3/6 have accomplished a lot and he was proud of it. Meanwhile I was checking out his fingers (he says all toes are in tact)and he passed Mom inspection just as he did 22 years ago when I first held him.

To those of you who haven't seen it--the roads into the base on the route of the returning marines will be lined with personal "welcome home" banners, signs, hung sheets etc., put there by families and friends to let the marines know how much they are supported. These still bring tears to my eyes everytime I see them.

This is my sons old unit. I saw them off in Bangor when they ere headed over. What was a shock is that my son mentioned that one of them was an amputee.I never noticed.
