SCHAGEN, Netherlands (AP) – Some people think he's crazy. His wife's not exactly thrilled either. But like the biblical Noah, Dutchman Johan Huibers is steadfast in his mission: he's building an enormous working replica of Noah's Ark as a testament to his faith in the literal truth of the Bible

I saw your post on the wake of the soldier earlier today, very impressive and touching.

According to scientists, the design parameters are extremely strong and the most stable possible making the boat practically incapable of being capsized by even the roughest seas. I remember some show that built models of the ark based on the dimensions from the bible and were amazed when they couldn't sink it.

Good afternoon.
"I bet it would sail like a brick..."

Was it supposed to be a working, steerable boat, or was it just supposed to be something that kept some living things afloat and alive until the water receded?

I'd like to stand at the gangplank and step on all the spiders as they came up.

Mythbusters would have sunk it,

A garbage scow maybe sound but try sailing it in the open sea and you'll find youself permanently visiting Davey jones' locker.

But hey, it worked for Noah.

I think so.

But if this guy thinks about actually sailing it in any large body of water he had better have his insurance paid up.

It should float, given he has built it correctly. If he has a tugboat to tow it, it will go where the tugboat captain steers it but don't think he can put a sail on it and sail away on it.

Put it this way.

Noah had the Lord's gentle hand behind him and that's why he was sucessful

Floating Yes. Sailing No.

I didn't mean it couldn't be seaworthy in the sense it wouldn't sink.

A 55 gallon drum is hard to sink but it is hardly capable of sailing. ;-)

Whoompa, whoompa, whoompa, whoompa(DING!)
Noah!
Somebody call?
Whoompa, whoompa, whoompa(DING!)
Noah!
Who is that?
It's the Lord, Noah
Right!

Where are ya?
What you want? I've been good.
I want you to build an Ark
Right!
What's an Ark?
Get some wood build it
300 cubits by 80 cubits by 40 cubits
Right!
What's a cubit?
Lets see a cubit...I used to know what a cubit was
Well don't worry about that Noah
When you get that done
Go out into the world and
Collect all of the animals in the world by twos
Male and female, and put them into the ark
Right!
Who is this really?

What's going on?
How come you want me to do all these weird things?
I'm going to destroy the world
Right!
Am I on Candid Camera?

How you gonna do it?
I'm gonna make it rain for a 1,000 days and drown 'em right out
Right!
Listen to this, you'll save water
Let it rain for 40 days and 40 nights
And wait for the sewers back up
Right!

I just wondering,
What would be the effect of an Ark on the average neighbor?
Now, here's a guy going to work, 7 o'clock in the morning
Noah's next door neighbor and he sees the Ark.
Hey!
You up there!
What you want?
What is this?
It's an Ark
Aha
You wanna get it outta my driveway?
I gotta get to work!
Listen, what this thing for anyway?
I can't tell you
Hahahahaha!
Well, I mean can't you give me a little hint?
You wanna a hint?
Yes, please
How long can you tread water?
Hahahah!

In any case. I don't think 'sailing' is what the ark was designed for.
