John McCain Praises Pro-illegal Protests

Sunday, April 2, 2006 11:58 a.m. EDT John McCain Praises Pro-illegal Protests

Sen. John McCain is praising the recent wave of pro-illegal immigration demonstrations, saying that if the protesters hang tough they will succeed in forcing Congress to liberalize immigration laws.

"If such demonstrations continue, I think we will have a bill for the President to sign soon," the Arizona Republican told a New York City gathering on Friday sponsored by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform.

"The more debate, the more demonstrations, the more likely we will prevail," McCain added, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News.

The Irish group backs the McCain-Kennedy bill that would allow illegal aliens already in the U.S. to stay and work toward citizenship.

McCain offered the comments as the city girded for its first major pro-illegal rally - a march across the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday that ended in lower Manhattan.

Despite the Arizona Republican's support, marchers on Saturday sounded decidedly anti-GOP.

"We are fed up," said Humberto Suarezmotta, a former professor from Colombia, told the News.

"Since the Mayflower, immigrants have been coming here and now we have Republicans who are against minorities."

"The people united will never be defeated!" other demonstrators chanted in Spanish. "We're not going, but Bush can leave!"

I agree with you, although I am doubtful that even Allen will get us there. At least he's not embracing open borders like McCain, though.

There is Republican from Arizona who has his issue right --- J D Hayworth... unfortunately, the senior Senator from the Grand Canyon State is severely out of touch with the vast majority of the members of his party.
He has virtually guaranteed that he can not get the republican nomination ... I would not be surprised to see a third party candidacy from McCain enough to throw the election to Hillary. The MSM will orgasm all over themselves with the thought of McCain's third party run.

"It probably would have been better for the country if he had never made it out of his plane on the flight deck of the Forrestal."

No one deserves to die like that. He is what he is. Don't worry, he will not be the Republican presidential candidate.

Hey BQ!

Why don't you tell our fellow FReepers what that witch minion at McPAIN's office told you, when you called his office the other day??

I couldn't care less about these Mexican flag waving ingrates. If McCain wants to reward illegal's behavior, don't count me in with his bunch. Whatever smidgen of sympathy I had for illegals evaporated into thin air that day last week when there were mass protests by Mexicans, the vast majority of them waving the Mex flag. If you dumb*** illegals knew how much irreparable damage you did with that one thing alone, you'd cry for weeks, then go straight home.

LOL, an older relative told me that the thing that stood out about Nixon was that "he was unpredictable." Nixon said that that was indeed a practice of his, to keep others guessing. I hope it isn't McCain's game plan. I already hate his guts for his anti-Christian words in the 2000 campaign. (Gary Bauer, drop dead for supporting this brainless heathen).

Brothers and sisters, there ain't no way in hell that I would even consider a vote for this guy. There was talk on FReep before that McCain was charming conservatives--I want to know what person is smart enough to be a conservative, and at the same time, is stupid enough to support McCain? I'll be glad to hear from anyone with that profile. (LOL, hint--just because you're supporting JM doesn't mean you're conservative--thought I would throw that in there...)

I see nothing wrong with wanting a balanced immigration bill with both fixing the borders and guest worker. But to praise these anti-American demonstrations and encourage them for political purposes is sickening.

You rang? lol

I was just reading on another thread how somebody else had a bad experience with McCain's staff.

When I called McCain's office last week - the staffer told me that it is our "moral responsibility" to take in everyone who wants to come to the U.S. EVERYONE.

Now, I am all about the recall movement that I heard is about to get going in AZ.

Why isn't the Attorney General Indicting McLame and many other members of the Congress and the Administration for NONFEASANCE?

What happened to the oath of office in which the politician promised to FAITHFULLY UPHOLD THE CONSTITUION OF THE UNITED STATES (not Mexico)?

I don't care what Bush says he has lost a lot of his base see what he does, that will be the kicker for the next election. The congress will never agree on any legislation, the house will most likely kill anything the moron pompous senate sends them.

McCain forgot that he has to run in a primary before the general election. He's done.

I tried to get her to clarify what she meant, and how she expected us to pay for the millions more who want to come here, but she just kept repeating "moral obligation," "moral responsibility."

No, no, no. Republicans who are against "illegal sneaks who are breaking US immigration laws", NOT minorities.

I think McCain got a real head-job done on him back in Vietnam. He's definitely destroyed his Presidential chances among Repubilcans. Look for him to switch parties in 2007 or '08.
