The guy's tax fraud was not an anti-tax protest, it was tax fraud. The guy's sentence for tax fraud is "orthogonal" from any considerations of anti-tax protesting. It should in no way discourage anybody from anti-tax protesting. However the Assistant US Attorney has conflated the two, in typical big-fisted ugly government fashion. Her statement was just as reprehensible and insidious as those of people who would claim that Eric Rudolph's murder conviction for bombing abortion clinics should discourage others from considering anti-abortion protests. Murder is a crime. Protesting abortion is not. Tax fraud is a crime. Protesting taxes is not. What does it take to get a clueless Assistant US Attorney to understand the difference?
Point well taken.
This clown, Sandra Brown should be fired!
Assistant United States Attorney Sandra B. Brown is the chief of the Tax Division.
The mailing address is:
The United States Attorney's Office

Good point, quite alert on the difference between what this zealous US Attorney said and the true reality.
