City Will Bill Organizers for Cost of Monday's March (COOL!)
NBC 2 ^ | 4/11/06 | Mikey_1962

FORT MYERS: Leaders with the city of Fort Myers and Lee County are trying to determine how much "The Great March" cost taxpayers. The city of Fort Myers attorney sent a letter to organizers on Friday stating they would be responsible for all costs involved in the event. The organizers say they shouldn't have to pay because they have a right to protest.

On Friday, the Fort Myers city attorney sent a letter to Luis Ibarra, Director of the United Latin Immigrants of Florida as well as the Mexican Consulate in Miami.

The letter stated, "The city is unaware if you have taken any steps to provide for the event and therefore will incur significant taxpayer dollars to provide what the organizers of the event are supposed to provide. As a result, the city will be seeking reimbursement for these services and will hold your organization responsible to the greatest extent of the law."

Ibarra says he never received the letter and it's the first he's heard about the possibility of receiving a bill for the march.

"We are a non profit organization and we shouldn't have to pay anything to anyone. This is freedom of speech and we have the right to protest and march as immigrants. Who says we have to pay? That's ridiculous," said Ibarra.

Here is an excerpt from the Fort Myers ordinance regarding processions:

Sec. 17-117. Permit required; fees. No parade or procession upon any street of the city and no open-air public meetings upon any public property shall be permitted unless a special permit shall first be obtained. Any person desiring a permit under this section shall make written application to the chief of police or some duly authorized member of the police department. Permits issued under this section shall be printed or written, duly signed by the chief of police or some duly authorized member of the police department after approval and shall specify the day, hour, place and purpose of such parade, procession or open-air public meeting. The fee for such permit shall be five dollars ($5.00) if the activity permitted requires no extra policing or will cause no extra cost or expense to the city. If such activity will require additional policing or supervision or otherwise incur additional cost and expense to the city, there shall be charged such fee as will defray such additional cost to be determined by the chief of police. (Code 1963, § 32-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No Permit, No March.

Welcome to America.

It will be interesting to see how much - if anything - they get out of the "organizers."

And Ibarra is with the Mexican Consulate???

This is the same as involving the Mexican gov. on our soil.

Not too far-fetched to consider this war with Mexico.

Today you march, tomorrow you vote?
While you demand I learn Spanish
Or you’ll yell racist and lunge for my throat

You demand rights and citizenship from me
While waving the large flag
Of the country your risked your life to flee

You say want what is your right
While I pay for your children’s schooling and births
And we watch as MS-13 and our police fight

You shout that you came and that you should stay
While my money pays for your food stamps
And you and your friends take my friends’ jobs away

My taxes rise to pay for your children born here
Their schooling, their births, every trip to the emergency room
And left to run wild gangs add to our fear

I say I can’t pay for everything you demand and you say I had “the race”
While the poor kid from Oklahoma can’t afford college
When the kid from Mexico gets into college and funding in his place

Break our laws with your hand out for more
For welfare, for anchor babies, and demanding of jobs
When ever more jobs leave our own shore

How can we be equal when we import poverty and destroy law and order?
How can we afford the burden that they and their children bring?
And ask those who are raped and murdered because we have an open border.

For the black guy who loses his job and the Canadian who waited his turn
And the Chinese told to learn Spanish and the Indians who earned their visas
If we give Mexican illegals amnesty, what is the lesson THEY learn?

And Washington, D.C. will bill all federal taxpayers by whining until Congress agrees to pay its expenses.

And there you have it, folks. The illegal soon-to-be dems worldview: "we shouldn't have to pay anything to anyone."

The organizers say they shouldn't have to pay because they have a right to protest.

Which is not the same as having a right to defer your protest costs to non-protesters. Here's a hint: Rights don't involve funding by others.

Can anyone imagine the size of the cleanup bill? If the City was tasked with removing all the trash at the parade, where would the City get enough buses to remove the protestors? Where can one dump all those buses loaded with trash? Can they be dumped at the city limits, the county line?

And what would EPA say about moving that amount of toxic trash without special equipment?

No permit...no legality.

I totally support the Fort Myers'
government! Boy, if one of their
marchers got hurt while carrying
a flag or stepping on a loose
pebble, the city of Fort Myers
would be sued for plenty via
lack of sufficient police escort
and "dirty" streets!
Lawyers just sit and wait for
little tidbits like that tossed
their way.

Isn't Ft. Myers the city that was the first to outlaw child molesters from living in the city limits? Maybe they can sue these raza-ist bastards out of existence.

"We are a non profit organization and we shouldn't have to pay anything to anyone"

Non profits have to go. They all profit at our expense. It would put a real hurt on dems if they were taxed.

I have wondered if any of these marches secured the appropriate permits. Appears they broke another law.

...With April 15th at the end of the week, I was about to say that it's good my overinflated taxes are going to support changes I don't want. Good for Ft. Myers.
