I imagine there are many in all generations. I visited my brother a few years ag(Baby Boomer) and noticed that his house was full of pictures of him and his wife and not one picture of their 2 children or 3 grandchildren. I always thought that they loved themselves more than anyone and that just cemented it in my mind.

I would think that it would be easier to be narcissistic if you hadn't had too many bumps on the road.
