They banned guns so they're much safer now. Obviously.

This isn't the context to argue for or against gun control. This should be a show of support for this family. I grieve for this mother.

What is wrong with you folks? This is a tragedy regardless of the amount of anti-2nd Amendment laws in NY State and NY City. There's nothing in this story that has any bearing on the gun control argument.
Since the scum that killed this little boy were armed under the existing laws, it's obvious they would have been armed if fire arms were completely unregulated. Furthermore, this wasn't a confrontation between an armed criminal and an unarmed law-abiding citizen, this was a family making use of the public streets and losing their son/brother in the process.
Not every crime committed with a gun has a connection to the 2nd Amendment.

I thought New York had strict gun control laws...Gun control they have. What they need is bullet control.
Placement. Placement. Placement.
If more honest citizens carried, the thugs would think twice about opening up. You will never take the guns away from the criminals, but armed citizens worry the criminals a lot.

Yes, this would or could have happened regardless of the Second Amendment. But the problem is, the laws that are meant to stop this are restricting law-abiding citizens from being able to protect themselves. And I daresay, if law-abiding citizens had those rights, some of these scum would think twice about pulling out their illegal guns, even during argurments between each other.

actually, yes, it does. first, when the citizens are armed, criminals actually don't have as easy of access to guns. where guns are legal, there a much lower demand for black market guns, driving up the price and taking what there is and making it unaffordable. second, if you're in a city where guns are legal, and regularly legally carried, you will be less likely to use your illegal one because of the much higher chance of quick, and fatal, retribution.
