"British historian Tom Asbridge yesterday hailed the find as the first provable example of actual Knights Templar."

Is someone questioning the actual existence of Knights Templar? I don't "get" this statement at all. The first known instance of my own surname appears in the Templar Inquisition of 1185. I wish I could say I had proved my line, uninterrupted, back to that point, but that doesn't change the earliest record of it.

I find this confusing, especially from a British Historian. There are all manner of Templar properties in England and Scotland, including the Temple Church in London.
