Sure wish it was on a weekend though, a lot more folks
would show up.

Gee make it at Stone Mountain or some place, picnic and
listen to the debate.
Isn't that how it was done years ago?

As Neal said, at this late date most venues are already booked solid for the weekend.

It's a 2.5 hour drive for me. Not too bad.

Cool!

Once we find out where the rally will be held we'll have to figure out a common spot and time for FReepers to meet ahead of time.

It would be neat to sit together!

We all want less tax and smaller government. Perhaps I could tell you a few reasons I think the nrst will do that?

First, the method of collection has everything to do with allowing gov't to continue to grow unbounded. To make this clear, imagine if we only changed our method of tax collection from withholding from paychecks and hiding business taxes in prices to making people pay tax monthly like most other "bills". It is pretty obvious just the change in method of collection would affect taxes! So the method of collection (withholding and business taxes) has everything to do with it. The nrst, btw, eliminates withholding and eliminates business taxes.

Second, when we all pay the same rate on discretionary spending there will be a united front against taxes too high. Any increase would be universally opposed (vehemently) - and the flip side... any decrease would be cheered universally.

Folks being more aware of the tax burden (taxes not withheld but rather paid in cash daily with green money from their wallets) and a united front against increasing taxes and an overabundance of voters willing to applaud tax reductions are a recipe for downward pressure on taxes.

If you'd like to continue withholding and business taxes and fight taxes, have at it. I caution you though that the system is designed to prevent your success. IMO we need to change the system.

Yes when I orignally scanned the posting I thought it would be a weekend... I'm fairly certain I won't be able to make it on a weeknight. Alas.

I'll try, but it doesn't look good. I gotta work to pay my taxes ya know!

I recall years ago when there was a big gathering with Linder, Peterson, and I don't recall how many people at the Cobb Galleria... the NRST balloon was there, it was a real kick. I got to meet othr freepers who were nrst advocates...

I never got to meet CHIEF Negotiator though and I regret that. Does anyone recall that gathering?

Thanks for the ping, dixie. If it can be put together, an Atlanta Fair Tax Rally would be a spectacular start to a series of Rallies around the US.

Hope they can get it done!

I was there! Great Rally. Hope to make this one, and I sure hope the NRST hot air balloon is there!

I miss CHIEF negotiator every day, and will for as long as I live.

NRST hot air balloon?

A real balloon or is that a metaphor?

Living in VA and being on a work night pretty much rules me out. Otherwise I'd be there, and would even take in a Braves game or two.....

=(

That was before I got involved, but I have a video of it - or some parts of it.

Whoa! What a link. That was from 1999 - a real blast from the past. It was interesting to see how many of the same crew was on that thread as we find on these tax threads today. Of course, that was several FR IDs ago for LL.
