[Note: this is from Nealz Nuze for today. Neal also has a poll about this. Follow this link to participate.] Frankly, I've been reluctant to endorse the idea of trying to have a large rally. When you have 1000 people crowd a book store to get their FairTax Book signed, the crowd looks huge. When you have 1000 people scattered around a facility that can hold 15,000, the crowd looks anemic. Promoting a large rally for the FairTax and not packing the place full would give the impression that the FairTax doesn't have widespread support. OK ... what the hell. Let's go for it. Today we're meeting in Atlanta to try to locate the venue and set the date. Target date is May 24th. Why not a weekend? Because at this point all of the venues that we would want to use are booked for weekend events, but we're not adverse to a Saturday evening if the proper place can be found. One thing I'm trying to avoid is a downtown Atlanta location with the attendant parking problems. More on this later. But if we set this up it then be up to you to show that the FairTax has support. If this works, we could try it in other parts of the country. One thing for sure --- packing eight to ten thousand people into an arena to listen to people rant and rave about taxes would surely send a message.
We're working on it. The idea started with a simple book signing for the Atlanta area after the release of the soft-cover edition of The Fair Tax Book. Then we started talking about a venue. Where we we go? A book store? Shopping mall? All the while I have people emailing me begging for some large FairTax rally somewhere.
It's a Wednesday night. I'm in -- already said so on Neal's website poll thingee.

I'll ping the Alabama group.
Mississippi ping!
Do you know if there is a Georgia ping list? I can't find one. Also can't find one for Alabama.
Folks -- is there a function (pre-existing) in FR to ping all who declare themselves as living in GA (Georgia)? Can we find a FR ping button?
Just askin ;-)
Whether we are fleeced fairly or unfairly, we are still fleeced. I don't want a "fair" tax, I want less taxes.
What is needed is a large across-the-board tax cut. That would be fair.
Well, actually, I'm posting a link to your thread in the Alabama Locale's area. I don't think we have an actual Freeper chapter in our state, just some Freepers LOL

Upchuck, you don't have to go all the way to Atlanta. Congressman Linder is giving a talk on the Fairtax today at the Augusta Community Center at 1:00.
I'll be there to tell everyone who shows up how stupid... perhaps even EVIL... the "Fair Tax" is.
"Fair Tax"... yeah, and those are "Golden Years" when we get old. Marketing... jeez.

My wife and I will probably both attend if we can. I'm not going to respond to the poll as I think it's better not to set expectations too high.
Thanks for the heads up. Wish I had known about this a couple of days ago :)
If anyone would like to be added to this ping list let me know.
John Linder in the House(HR25) & Saxby Chambliss Senate(S25) offer a comprehensive bill to kill all income and SS/Medicare payroll taxes outright and replace them with with a national retail sales tax administered by the states.
H.R.25,S.25
A bill to promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national retail sales tax to be administered primarily by the States.Refer for additional information:
Please do. We'll need some comic relief. But watch out. That evil fair tax just may possess your mind and make you do strange things. We'll have a fair tax exorcist available for all you SQL's who think the fair tax is the taxable equivalent of global warming.
