Whether we are fleeced fairly or unfairly, we are still fleeced. I don't want a "fair" tax, I want less taxes.
What is needed is a large across-the-board tax cut. That would be fair.
First, the method of collection has everything to do with allowing gov't to continue to grow unbounded. To make this clear, imagine if we only changed our method of tax collection from withholding from paychecks and hiding business taxes in prices to making people pay tax monthly like most other "bills". It is pretty obvious just the change in method of collection would affect taxes! So the method of collection (withholding and business taxes) has everything to do with it. The nrst, btw, eliminates withholding and eliminates business taxes.
Second, when we all pay the same rate on discretionary spending there will be a united front against taxes too high. Any increase would be universally opposed (vehemently) - and the flip side... any decrease would be cheered universally.
Folks being more aware of the tax burden (taxes not withheld but rather paid in cash daily with green money from their wallets) and a united front against increasing taxes and an overabundance of voters willing to applaud tax reductions are a recipe for downward pressure on taxes.
If you'd like to continue withholding and business taxes and fight taxes, have at it. I caution you though that the system is designed to prevent your success. IMO we need to change the system.
