POLITICAL ANIMAL: A well-known blog chronicling Washington, D.C., politics and Beltway gossip reported that Gov. Bill Richardson recently hosted a retreat to "refine his national message" in preparation for a 2008 presidential run.
Richardson gubernatorial campaign manager Amanda Cooper said the site, www.wonkette.com, got it wrong: While Richardson did call campaign experts to the Governor's Mansion in Santa Fe to discuss campaign strategy, Cooper said the meeting centered on his 2006 re-election campaign for governor.
Richardson is widely believed to be testing the waters for a possible presidential bid, but Cooper said: "This meeting was not about 'refining his national message.' '' Cooper noted that the Wonkette column featuring Richardson was titled "The 2008 Rumor Mill Is in Full Churn."
Cooper said she, campaign chairman Dave Contarino (who until recently was Richardson's chief of staff), direct-mail expert Dave Gold of northern New Mexico and media consultant Steve Murphy of Virginia attended the strategy summit, which took place last Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
Cooper declined to provide a specific sneak preview of Richardson's 2006 gubernatorial campaign strategy but said it will involve focusing on his accomplishments during his first term.
Richardson will be the only Democratic gubernatorial candidate's name on the June 6 primary ballot. The Republican side of the ballot will also feature just one name for governor: J.R. Damron, a Santa Fe radiologist.

And he has Brian Wilson at FNC eating out of his hand if you saw the piece this weekend on Fox News Weekend. Richardson has ZERO ideas and actually he has ZERO public accomplishments while working in the Klintoon adminstration. Seriously, can anybody name a single thing he ACTUALLY did? Its just like Hillary or Kerry, they are only good in theory because in real life they have no deeds to list on their resumes.
