GAS THIEF CLEANS WHILE HE PUMPS
The Austin American-Statesman ^ | 3 May 2006 | Dave Harmon

Posted on 05/03/2006 2:07:45 PM PDT by MeneMeneTekelUpharsin

Man has stolen 2,600 gallons from stations in Travis County.

A gas thief is literally cleaning up at gas stations in Travis County — pumping fuel from underground tanks while spraying the pavement with a pressure washer to make it look like he belongs there. The man has struck three gas stations in the past 15 months, making off with about 2,600 gallons of fuel, which he pumps into tanks mounted in the bed of a pickup truck and on a double-axle utility trailer, the Travis County Sheriff's office said. Most recently, he drove into Graef's Grocery at U.S. 183 south and FM 1327 in Mustang Ridge around 2 a.m. April 20 and stole about 600 gallons of super unleaded and 500 gallons of diesel, the sheriff's office said.

Before that, he stole 900 gallons of diesel from a station on U.S. 290 East on April 13 and 600 gallons of diesel from Wilhite's Country Corner at FM 1327 and FM 1625 in Creedmoor on Feb. 14, 2005. Both stores were closed during the overnight thefts, the sheriff's office said. Surveillance video from one of the thefts shows the man driving is a white Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck with a large plastic tank in the bed, pulling a trailer with two metal tanks on it. The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information about the thefts to call Detective Carri Turner at (512) 854-7408 or CrimeStoppers at 472-TIPS (472-8477).

"A modern day un-leaded Robin Hood...wonder if he gives the fuel to the poor?"

Not at all. Remember, Robin Hood robbed from the unjust government (the Sheriff of Nottingham), and gave to the poor.

I often visit FR pages when a FReeper's screenname is intriguing enough. I have to say, yours was very educational and I appreciated what you posted about Disney, and the photos.

I hope he has at least two separate tanks. There are very few engines that will run on a mix of unleaded and diesel.

Please bear in mind that the original Robin Hood stole from the king's tax collector. Thus, he never stole from "the rich" and gave to "the poor" but from a thieving government and gave de facto tax rebates.

Gutsy! A modern day un-leaded Robin Hood...

Nope. Robin Hood didn't rob from private citizens but rather from an illegitimate government.

The guy is not stealing from the government. He is stealing from a gas station (i.e. a private company run by a private citizen) and from its customers.

Comparing to illegal immigration:

He's done it three times and not been caught. Therefore he should be given "amnesty."

Kinda like the two years and five years threshold.
