Some recent ratings news no doubt gladdened the hearts of Fox News Channel haters.
First, Nielsen Media Research reported that Fox News' overall prime-time lineup dropped 17% last month compared with a year ago (MSNBC grew 16% during the same period, while CNN plummeted by 38%).
Late last week, a reliable television industry website, TVNewser.com, reported that in April, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly had his worst month in nearly five years among viewers age 25 to 54, the most coveted audience in TV news.
Although the network still churns out ratings light-years ahead of competitors' and O'Reilly remains cable news' No. 1 host, Fox News' explosive growth appears to be, like the president's 90% approval rating in the days following Sept. 11, a relic from the first Bush term.

MSNBC had a 16% increase. 100 viewers to 116, big deal.
Well, I guess it's time to do a gripping story about the occupational hazards strippers endure while using the pole on stage.
...not to mention the stunning drop in circulation of a (I hesitate to use the word news) paper, like the LA Times.
Let us also remember that the CNN 38% ratings drop is compared to one year ago when it was realizing a similar ratings drop from the year before. The two year numbers must be a real topic of conversation around the spot where the reposessed CNN water cooler used to be.
Oh well..stick a fork in Fox News..it's done..over..kaput..latimes wouldn't lie to us..would they??
"the 4am edition of The Factor beat out Olbermanns 8pm show every day."
LoL
Brilliant.
As Fox news swings more liberal, viewers swing away.
When is the LA Times ready for the fork -- getting close.
the 4am edition of The Factor beat out Olbermanns 8pm show every day.
LOLOLOL!!
The writer doesn't understand that it's conservatives who are tuning out Fox News. There's no doubt in my mind that Fox had been tacking portside for the last 12-18 months, which naturally will alienate the right. I'm sure he wants the readers to believe that Fox has become more conservative, thus running off the liberals and moderates. It's a lot like the presidents current low approval numbers. Most of that damage comes from conservatives who don't think Bush is conservative enough. The follow-up to the job approval question should be: If you disapprove, is it because the president has been too conservative or not conservative enough? That is the real story behind the low approval numbers.
Fox News has become very very MSM. If the hosts on Fox News are not plugging their books, they are plugging their radio shows. So I do take seriously whatever the LA Times says on this subject. It is almost Biblical, "Let the dead bury the dead."
Considering the fact that R. Murdock will be hosting a fundraiser for Hillary we may see Fox drop more than a little. There is one thing that some of us dislike more than a
rattlesnake. That is Hillary Clinton. Giving her a bundle of money to run for president would make this household leave Fox in a big way.
How did MSNBC get an increase in viewers? Are their news babes now naked? Let me know so I can unblock that cable channel.
I like Fox, but I find myself changing to other shows because Fox has so much advertising.
What evidence do you have that FOXNEWS is "swinging" liberal? I don't see it.
You unappeaseables are pissed off all the time aren't you?
"The right" is not alienated by FOXNEWS. Only people who want a national news network to agree with everything they think are alienated.
Kinda like the way you people are with Bush: if he doesn't agree with everything you believe, then he's a liberal.
I'd like to see how few viewers a network format you'd design would draw.
