This one is delicious, and demonstrates quite vividly how todays journalists say whatever they want whenever they want with total disregard for factual content or historical accuracy (hat tip to Expose the Left with video link to follow). During Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfelds Pentagon briefing on Tuesday, an unidentified reporter asked, Mr. Secretary, getting back to the question of the CIA, the last time we had an active-duty military officer heading up the CIA was even before you were in government, 1953 I believe.
Rumsfeld quickly stopped the reporter in his tracks: What was Vernon -- didn't Vernon Walters do it? Didn't Studeman do it?
Undeterred by how wrong he was, the reporter continued: OK. Well, my point remains -- my question remains the same, is: Do you think it's...
Rumsfeld brilliantly retorted: Even though the premise is fallacious.

Go, Rummy! Go! Bumping to see the "Rummy Zot" gif later, LOL! :)
If only Bush had a press secretary the past two years like Rummy, he'd be sitting more pretty today.
Morons !
Unacceptable. That yahoo needs to be ID'd. Reporters NEVER fail to capitalize and reap embarrassment upon this administration. It's time the gander met the sauce too.
Rummy in another battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
Caution to "reporters" who pose questions to Rumsfeld -
Do your homework first, and make sure you write out the question just the way you want to ask it. Fumbling around when in the presence of your peers does not help your resume. And asking inane questions of your betters that results in getting humbled by the response, is a sure ticket to covering stories about the price of corn in Keokuk, Iowa.
Now I know...thanks for the post.
Rummy doesn't suffer fools lightly ... especially stupid/arrogant media types.

QUESTION: Mr. Secretary, getting back to the question of the CIA, the last time we had an active-duty military officer heading up the CIA was even before you were in government, 1953 I believe. And I'm just wondering...
RUMSFELD: What was Vernon -- didn't Vernon Walters do it? Didn't Studeman do it?
Yes, I think your facts may be wrong. I have not researched it; I should.
(CROSSTALK)
QUESTION: OK. Well, my point remains -- my question remains the same, is: Do you think it's...
RUMSFELD: Even though the premise is fallacious.
(LAUGHTER)
QUESTION: It's been a long time.
Will you at least acknowledge that it's been a long time since we had an active...
RUMSFELD: There's no rule against it.
QUESTION: Flawed, not fallacious -- flawed.
Hurray! I knew it would be here soon. :)
Well, of course Rumsfeld was right, and this reporter couldnt have been more wrong. What are the facts?
Admiral William Studeman was appointed Deputy Director to the CIA in 1993, and served as Acting Director twice between then and 1995. Yeah, thats about ten years ago. I guess to this reporter, thats a long time.
Furthermore, the highly regarded Lieutenant General Vernon Walters was Deputy Director of the CIA in 1972, and served as Acting Director for two months in 1973. Both are a far cry from 1953, but as we consistently see, facts arent important when the drive-by media are trying to advance their agenda.
What do you get when you cross a Viking Kitten with a pit bull? A very sore and scared pit bull. You also get the Rummy Zot!
The reporters are still... "Stuck On Stupid!"
bump
Take that!
Donald Rumsfeld, please run for President!
