UNC attacker: 'I aimed to exact casualties' (Mohammed Atta one of my role models)

CHAPEL HILL - A man charged with trying to kill students at the University of North Carolina by driving through a popular campus gathering spot says in a series of letters he does not deserve punishment.

He also talks about his youth in Charlotte, referring at one point to a school fight he said he started at Myers Park Traditional Elementary School.

And he refers to Mohammed Atta, ringleader of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States, aqs "one of my role models."

Mohammed Taheri-azar is accused of driving a Jeep Cherokee into a crowd of students gathered at the Pit on March 3 at UNC-Chapel Hill and hitting nine people. None had life-threatening injuries.

He has told investigators and reporters he wanted to avenge the deaths of Muslims caused by the U.S. around the world.

Taheri-azar, who lived in Charlotte and attended South Mecklenburg High School, said in letters answering more than three dozen questions from Shannon Bowen, a reporter at the university's student newspaper, that he won't plead guilty, as he previously planned, because his attack was justified and he doesn't deserve punishment.

"I aimed to exact casualties from an enemy responsible for thousands of casualties among Allah's followers," Taheri-azar wrote to the Daily Tar Heel on May 2.

Taheri-azar said he has cut himself off from his family in the past year, but his parents visited him several times in Raleigh's Central Prison for three weeks after the attack. He's told them to quit coming, he said.

He said he was born in Iran and has lived in the United States since he was two years old. His mother is a secretary and interpreter in Afghanistan for a U.S. contractor, he said.

In his letter, he said the only other time he has been involved in a violent physical situation was in his youth, in Charlotte -- the playground fight at Myers Park Traditional Elementary.

"However, it was in retaliation for many verbal remarks made by an individual aiming to `make fun' of me earlier that day in the classroom," Taheri-azar said.

His letter also describes, step by step, his preparations on the day of his alleged attack on the students. He says he never considered committing suicide but expected police to kill him after he drove into the Pit.

Taheri-azar was indicted on nine counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

A complete transcript of the letter is available at the newspaper's Web site, www.dailytarheel.com.

hmm and he still isnt being charged under the patriot act but these people have. Kinda interesting i think

A New Jersey man accused with using a laser to beam pilots of two planes has been charged under the Patriot Act. The FBI has acknowledged that the incident does not have any relation to terrorism but called David Banach's actions "foolhardy and negligent."

An analysis of the Justice Department's own list of terrorism prosecutions by The Washington Post shows that 39 people, not 200, as officials have implied, were convicted of crimes related to terrorism or national security."

The Post report said, "Most of the others were convicted of relatively minor crimes such as making false statements and violating immigration law and had nothing to do with terrorism."

Treasury Department figures reviewed by Newsweek show that this year the Feds have used the Patriot Act to conduct searches on 962 suspects, yielding "hits" on 6,397 financial records. Of those, two thirds (4,261) were in money-laundering cases with no terror connection. Among the agencies making requests, Newsweek has learned, were the IRS (which investigates tax fraud), the Postal Service (postal fraud) and the Secret Service counterfeiting). One request came from the Agriculture Department -- a case that apparently involved food stamp fraud.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri filed an action against PayPal for violating the PATRIOT Act (18 U.S.C. 1960), based on PayPal's use in processing funds transfered for online gambling."

There are other troublesome aspects of The Patriot Act. Take, for example, Title III, aimed at money laundering. This became part of the Act at the insistence of Democrats that include Senators Daschle and Kerry. The Justice Department has used it to investigate corruption allegations against a Las Vegas strip club owner!

You have to understand the minds of Islamists.

It is perfectly acceptable to take murderous retaliation for slights that exist only in your own minds, it is acceptable to take murderous retaliation for events that happened hundreds of years in the past.

It is completely acceptable to retaliate against people who have absolutely nothing to do with your gripe.

It is acceptable to sentence a young girl to gang rape due to an offense by her brother.

Baseline...They are freaking insane from the womb to the grave.

You are most right in your post.

Well, at least the libs in the US will be able to see the fall of Eurabia.

But of course then they will say "See, See, we need to be nicer to the Muslims in the US. That way they will love us."

The Charlotte Observer is a real piece of work. That sentence "None had life-threatening injuries" seemed odd. Was that supposed to lessen what he did??

More like fallout of the Moussai verdict.
The Arab world sees this very differently than we do, and this POS is now going to play games in our courts just like ZM has done for nearly 5 yrs. Give this animal what Moussai should have had, a military trial. Then hang him.

To the one juror who queered the Moussai death sentence, I hope you burn in hell for all eternity.
