A conference geared to help Democrats infuse God into their politics begins tomorrow at All Souls Unitarian Church in the District with the unveiling of a "spiritual covenant with America."
The guest list for the conference, posted at www.tikkun.org, includes anti-war activists such as Cindy Sheehan, who will help lead a "pray-in for peace" outside the White House on Thursday afternoon. A range of Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim and Hindu speakers are also slated. The list did not include liberals who oppose abortion, such as Village Voice columnist Nat Hentoff, the group Democrats for Life and Pennsylvania Senate candidate Bob Casey Jr. The covenant takes no position on abortion, except that it should not be criminalized.

Unitarian Church ... God ..... what?
(Denny Crane: "Every one should carry a gun strapped to their waist. We need more - not less guns.")
If it ain't sincere, it's going to do them a lot more harm than good.
That's no position?
This whole faith thing on the left should be interesting and most uncomfortable for them. It doesn't alarm me because I think the good of the premise (faith matters) far outweighs any evil they plan to do with it.
Is Hillary now going to don black-face next time she's rollin down the aisle with the sistas in a Harlem Church? (you know what ah mean)
Naw, she was going to do that anyway.

If anyone can pull a coherent thought out of that, let me know. By the way, I wonder if any of the speakers have 10 heads and seven horns?
It doesn't alarm me because I don't think anyone is going to believe them.
"...and we're all spiritually connected to Mother Earth... everything's, like, connected, man!... dude, there could be a whole 'nother solar system in my fingernail! Man, this is some good sh%*!"
LOL. It does kinda sound like a group of stoners in a dorm room discussing Carlos Casteneda.
No, I don't suppose so. LOL! But the media will play it up big time, and they will needle the public with it. So it will have some effect, but I think it will overwhelmingly backfire. The premise always matters more than any given debate.
Unitartian church???? Isn't that the one that doesn't believe in Jesus Christ but believes in R.W.Emerson??
In other words, they are excluding pro-life Democrats, even if they support them on other policies (most of them are economic liberals).
Sounds like a bunch of Hollywood liberals sitting around after the success of "The Passion of the Christ", asking, "how can we take advantage of this whole 'God' thing". No sincerity. It makes me laugh when Hillary and Howard Dean try to talk about faith, completely clueless.
I was just thinking the same thing! What do Unitarians have to do with religion?
They worship at the altar of homosexuality, don't they?
