There may be 290,000 guardsmen here, but they are only going to send 6,000 to the border and they are only going to do their training there. They will only assist in administrative duties and will not really be ON the border.

As for the wall, Bush has never supported a wall until recently and then it is only for 360 miles, mostly for the built up areas.

Bush is weak on immigration, does not enforce the current laws and has allowed the situation to worsen during his watch. These are facts. The fact is he wants the ILLEGALS to have amnesty, and he is doing everything he can to make it happen. He is pandering now, with his fake sending of the guard to the border and claiming he wants a Wall.

If he was really serious about supporting our immigration laws he would not support catch and release. The pres has the authortiy to force ICE and INS to actually catch and deport prisoners, but of course he gives orders contrary to that.

Only someone who wants to blind themselves to any mistake he makes would think he is for border enforcement.

#1. Why aren't the Governors calling up National Guardsmen? They don't want them to control the borders even now, most of them.

#2. I linked articles which prove that the president has talked about and FUNDED a wall. Two years ago.

#3. This president DID end catch and release.

Remember bush's failed Social Security reforms? Perhaps political operatives have recognized that opening up our borders to instant citizens will prop up social security for a few more years with their contributions?
To them, problem dealt with becomes someone elses problem in a few years.

I see the problems of now becoming an unsustainable crisis by the end of the decade. Don't let congress off on the premise that the problem of illegal immigration is too big to solve. That is passing the buck to future leaders, just like the social security crisis that is out of the mainstream spotlight for now.
