When confronted with acts of stunning atrocity, such as the attacks of September 11th, the Madrid train bombings, the two attacks in Bali, or the synchronized bombings in the London underground, many navel-gazing Westerners are prompted to ask, "Why do they hate us?"
Although there's something off-putting about the implicit blame-the-victim mentality in a question like that, it nonetheless is a legitimate question to ask.
Some people ask that question rhetorically: to them, the answer to "Why do they hate us?" always leads one place: it's our fault. To these people, any horrific act anywhere in the world is a game of Six Degrees of Separation that traces back to something--anything--done by the United States.
Still, despite the fact that such a question seems most often posed by people who already have their minds made up about the answer, why not spend some time thinking about it?
First, let's define "they." For the purposes of this article, "they" refers to Jihadists: a radical subset of Muslims who believe it is their duty to kill anyone who refuses to abide by their religious law. Coincidentally, "they" are responsible for a disproportionate share of the terrorist attacks around the world, as un-politically-correct as this might be to recognize.
Now that we know who "they" are, who's "us"? Even though the "us" that "they" hate pretty much amounts to all of Western society, I will take "us" to mean the United States, since in the eyes of many in the non-Western world, the U.S. symbolizes Western society. But as the ongoing terrorist attacks worldwide prove, people are grossly misinformed if they believe the United States is the only country the Jihadists wish to destroy.

..they don't hate you, they just want you dead!!!
Doogle
Similarly, I want all these goat shaggers to die horribly.

They hate the Jews. They hate Westerners. The only r
And they hate each other.
If it wasn't for their commont hatred of us, they would be killing each other. The problem is with them.
I don't care either. Good point regarding Hitler...seems that the older generation recognized evil and realized that evil doesn't need a logical reason for its actions...
It's like asking a rabid dog if he has a problem.
Who cares. Time for cowboys and muslims.
Can someone explain to me why the liberals insist on doubling the penalty when a so called hate-crime is committed against a victim, yet in this case the same liberals want to totally absolve the hateful criminal - ie, their hate for us doesn't double their punishment but rather offsets their crime!!!!
Liberalism IS indeed a suicidal, mental disorder!!
"I simply don't care"
You better should care.
We just can win if we can answer this question

Good final paragraph. We should all be worried about the self-loathing Westerners. I expect in a few more years, people just won't want to think about a War on Terror any more. Like the post-Vietnam 70s all people will want to do is dance, dance, dance. The Democrats will have their "happy days are here again" until the next dramatic terrorist attack.
It tells of an incident in which a fire broke out at a girl's school in Saudi Arabia and, when the girls tried to escape the fire, the "morals police" forced them to go back inside because they weren't wearing the required head covering.
Fifteen of these girls died.
It's not a question of why they hate us anymore, it's more like how long will we keep putting up with their threat to wipe out Western Civilization?
Because we're not them.
This is actually a bizarre question, focusing on the elements in our makeup that slime find objectionable. Can you imagine a woman who's abused spending all her time wondering why her husband beats her, what it is about HER that MAKES him attack her?
I can--women who need psychiatric help think that kind of thing, while their scum husbands need to be jailed.
That's the way I think about this question. The fact that we spend so time wondering about it is a sign of a mental deficiency in many of our people. It speaks to a lack of belief in what it is to be American, and doubts about the value of our nation.
I just don't have time for such silliness. It is a dangerous mental disorder, this obsessing over this pointless question.
I don't believe it's possible for that to be more clearly stated.
Just rec'd this website via email this a.m. Take a look at our troops. Guaranteed to make you 100% all American proud. Will give you warm fuzzies.

Don't worry about why they hate you; just figure out how get them on to the open field of battle so you can kill 'em in job lots without too much collateral damage.
And don't take prisoners - they'll just be "insurgents" later.
The Western motto should be "If you want to be a martyr, we want to martyr you..."
ABsolutely wonderful
I just watched it all the way through.
It brought tears to my eyes.
I'm an old Vietnam war vet.
In a word: jealousy. Look at their stinking countries and look at us. With all our faults and problems, we are still the greatest country in the world and therefore must be hated.
I'm with you. I already know why they hate us and knowing doesn't really make any difference to me, other than allowing me to pause for a moment and say politely, "Oh, okay," before I return to calmly painting my Nuke Mecca sign.
