WASHINGTON, May 25, 2006 – Three terrorists were killed yesterday after planting a roadside bomb west of Baghdad, and the commander of Multinational Force West is seeking a criminal investigation of an April 26 incident in which an Iraqi civilian was killed.

Coalition forces from 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, observed three terrorists digging holes and placing roadside bombs near the Abu Ghraib district. Coalition forces then engaged and killed all three terrorists.

IMPORTANT!!

In other news, Marine Maj. Gen. Richard C. Zilmer has asked the Naval Criminal Investigative Service to investigate an April 26 incident in which Marines allegedly killed an Iraqi civilian near Hamandiyah, west of Baghdad. Zilmer commands 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Local Iraqis brought the incident to the attention of Marine leadership at a regularly scheduled meeting on May 1. A preliminary Multinational Force West investigation into the allegations revealed sufficient information existed to recommend a criminal investigation into the incident, officials said.

Several servicemembers from 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, suspected to have been involved in the incident were removed from operations and have returned to the United States, pending the results of the criminal investigation, officials said. They need to quit these damn investigations unless there is overwhelming EVIDENCE of malfeasance. If not, they better be giving these men the benefit of the doubt, dammit.

Here's hoping that they can eviscerate (metaphysically speaking) the RDDB-Urinalist when these Marines are exonerated for filing a false report

We are going to disarm our troops with all these investigations.

My brother took command of an army engineer platoon a year after Desert Storm and he had a soldier that was still under investigation for using an ACE (armored combat earthmover) to mow down a trench of Iraqi soldiers. The defining evidence was a picture of the blade on his ACE. It had 200+ bullet hits and an RPG strike on it. He was found innocent on charges that should never have been filed.

After WWII German soldiers continued fighting much as these
terrorists are doing presently, when the Americans found them they were summarily shot. Unfortunately our political
leaders arent decent enough to allow our soldiers to defend
themselves. They refuse to defend our own borders.
Words cannot express my displeasure with the pathetic
performance of Bush and his minions. It is not an extreme position to expect the President to allow our soldiers to kill anyone they consider a threat, nor is it extreme to
expect the president to protect our borders and expell
those who have violated the law by coming here every last
one. It is only logical to allow our soldiers to do their
jobs with impunity.

So who was using the picture? The prosecution, to show that the ACE was being fired at from close range, or the defense, to show that the ACE was being fired at from close range?

The defense showed the picture, unanimous verdict, case closed.

Well, realize this is one of the great STRENGTHS of the American military, like I say in my book, "America's Victories: Why the U.S. Wins Wars and Will Win the War on Terror." We regularly and routinely "learn from loss," whether it's moral errors by troops in the field (Patton hanged four rapists in Italy in 1943) or whether it's battlefield screwups (Kasserine, 507th Mech in Iraq). You might not like it now, and, if it proves to be true, it will be bad publicity, but the fact is, the Iraqis TRUST US enough to bring these charges because they know us to be honest. This would never have happened in weaker militaries.

Trust me, this is, in the long run, one of our strengths.
