KY: High School Prayer Axed After Muslim Complaint

SHELBYVILLE - The principal of Shelby County High School said the school will not have formal prayer at graduation exercises next month after receiving a complaint from a student and the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky.
Principal Gary Kidwell met Monday with the Board of Education and a lawyer as residents held a prayer vigil outside. Tuesday, Kidwell said the school will break from the tradition of student-led invocations and benedictions at graduation June 2.
The school "will be compliant with the law and also provide a respectful and dignified program for all students," he said.
Traditional prayers at a school banquet and an awards ceremony also will not be held, he said.
Last week, a court ordered a Russell County High School student who had been designated to pray at graduation not to do so. Students rose on their own and recited the Lord's Prayer during the principal's remarks. The student who had been designated to lead the prayer included religious messages in her remarks to graduates.
Arshiya Saiyed, 17, who is Muslim, identified herself Tuesday as the Shelby County student who filed the ACLU complaint. She said other students share her view, a contention echoed by Kidwell.
Arshiya said she understands that student speakers at Shelby County also might include a prayer in their remarks, but she hopes they will respect her objections to the formal prayer.
Ask (Ax) them if they have any intelligence ....... decency.............. or wisdom or kindness.............. then AX 'em!

A scumbag little terrorist-wanabe complains and everyone drops trow and obliges ... how sick. Why not just exlude this terrorist in waiting from these school activities.
And by the way, if she is a devout muslime, what is she doing in school ... school is not for girls! Put your burka on and stay at home.
Seems like it is the majority that needs protecting nowadays.

And here we have the many bowing to the will of the one. A prayer is not offensive. If you don't agree, or pray to that God, don't participate. There is no constitutional right to not be offended.
Consider the message this sends to our young people. We scrap an honored tradition, because a muslim finds it offensive. They will use our system against us, and bring us down.
The ACLU is Public Enema #1.
People think the immigration bill will result in a flood of immigrants from latin america, it wont. It will result in a flood of immigrants from Africa, Indonesia, Pakistand and Eygpt...latin american will be priced out of the labor market for cheap labor

That option is absolutely protected under the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment and there is nothing the Judge can do about it.
The Muslim student can say her own prayer but neither she nor the ACLU nor the Judge can stop student initiated prayer that is not part of the official program.
This bears repeating and repeating again.
I wonder, however, if the Muslims would use the same argument to get call to prayer allowed? I don't know about you, but the sound of that would scare me to death.
Actually the bast translation of the word is debts and not trespass, but I digress.
What the students need to do is stand up at the beginning of the ceremony and have one of their own lead a prayer ending with "in Jesus name...".
I'd pay good money to see the look on the ACLU lawyer's face.

Another reason why Islam and western civilization - or civilization in general are incompatible.
The entire school should ignore the judge, the ACLU and the student.
What are they going to do? Put them all in jail? So what? Its "civil disobedience" - remember that one? We acts of "civil disobedience" to idiotic Court edicts - just as was one back in the segregation days.
Only such actions will save the America we once knew and put a stop to these maniacal judges.
