According to authorities, there are reports of at least 7 fatalities at 560 North Hamilton Avenue on the east side of Indianapolis. At just after 10:00 pm Thursday night Indianapolis police were called to the scene after reports of gunshots.
A police representative reported that when officers arrived on scene they found a young woman crying that her mother had been shot. When officers entered the home they found multiple fatalities.
The police spokesman would not comment on the acutal number of fatalities, only that all those that had been shot had been pronounced dead. No names or ages were available.
Neighbor Frank Dobson said that he saw two women, a mother and daughter who reportedly lived at that location, drive up to the home and struggle to get inside the door. Not long after, Dobson said he heard between 10 and 12 shots.
Officers are currently looking for suspects as well as potential witnesses and Mayor Bart Peterson is in route to the scene.
According to News 8's Scott Sander, police are maintaining a large police presence, including representatives from animal control and many residents in the neighborhood are trying to figure out exactly what has happened.
