SIERRA VISTA The S.O.S. Borders organization expects more than 100 people at its rally at the Palominas Trading Post today
The rally is scheduled to go from 9 a.m. to noon. At noon, demonstrators will form a human fence, intending to send a message to the U.S. Congress about the need for proper border security.
We want Congress to understand that we want border security and enforcement of our laws, first and foremost. The purpose of this rally is strictly to focus on border security, S.O.S. Borders Co-executive Director Kimberly Fletcher said during a phone interview Friday as she waited to board a plane in Atlanta en route to Southeastern Arizona.
The program leading up to the human fence formation comprises speakers who will talk about various perspectives of the immigration problem.
Fletcher will be the first speaker.
She plans to talk about the potential liability of soft immigration rules, from a personal perspective.
My husband was at the Pentagon on 9/11 when it was hit, and I clearly see the need to patrol our borders, Fletcher said.
Yeh Ling-Ling, a legal immigrant who is the director of the Diversity Alliance for a Sustainable America, is scheduled to speak next.
National Minuteman Civil Defense Corps Director Al Garza is scheduled to take the podium after Ling-Ling, followed by Desert Visions President Cindy Kolb. Both are area residents.
Mothers Against Illegal Aliens President Michelle Dallacroce will speak next. Her organization held a political demonstration on Highway 92 south of Sierra Vista last June.
Legal immigrant and economist Mitch Van Billjon is scheduled to speak next, followed by American Border Patrol President Glenn Spencer and Erin Anderson of Eagle Forum, who will discuss the impact of illegal immigration on women.
Al Rodriguez, president of an organization called the You Dont Speak For Me Coalition, is tentatively scheduled to speak.
Randy Graf, who is currently campaigning for the retiring Jim Kolbes seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, also is scheduled to speak.
At noon, today, human fence demonstrations will take place at Mexican consulates at various locations, including those in Sacramento, Calif.; Tucson; Phoenix; Detroit; St. Paul, Minn.; Bergenfield, N.J.; New York; Butler County, Ohio; Portland, Ore.; Philadelphia; Dallas; San Antonio; and Salt Lake City, Utah.
We want them to know that this is what America wants, Fletcher said.

BTTT
As a side note, a reliable person told me today that the National Guard is getting ready to start building a fence not too far from me. It would be in a heavily trafficed area west of El Paso. This is the first I have heard of this, no mention in news reports that I have seen. We do already have National Guard troops that have been in the area assisting BP for a while- off and on since 9/11; this is not part of the new deployment that has been talked about recently.
If this turns out to be true, I will post more on it and pictures as I can.
Thanks for the photos... very inspirational.
I like this idea, Sand. Mexican consulates are where we patriots need to rally and demonstrate.
I also like the idea of a human chain along the border. It would be great if we could do it for hundreds of miles.
Looking forward to the update.
The entire border length from San Diego to Brownsville, from water's edge to water's edge; Now that would be something!
The hit-and-run burrito tosser needs to be given a taste of this own burrito. Pendejo!
Good article ... and the event is a morale booster for all concerned.
