1st Lt. Ehren K. Watada of Honolulu is expected to announce Wednesday that he will not be going to Iraq with his Fort Lewis Stryker brigade.
Watadas father, former Hawaii campaign spending commission executive director Bob Watada, made the announcement.
Local anti-war groups working with the younger Watada previously would not release the mans name to The Olympian.
My son has a great deal of courage, and clearly understands what is right, and what is wrong, Bob Watada told the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper. Hes choosing to do the right thing, which is a hard course.
Ehren Watada, 28, is not seeking conscientious objector status because he does not oppose all wars, but does have moral objections to the Iraq war. He faces the possibility of a court martial, dishonorable discharge and several years in prison if he refuses the war orders.
I refuse to be silent any longer. I refuse to watch families torn apart, while the President tells us to stay the course. I refuse to be party to an illegal and immoral war against people who did nothing to deserve our aggression. I wanted to be there for my fellow troops. But the best way was not to help drop artillery and cause more death and destruction. It is to help oppose this war and end it so that all soldiers can come home. -U.S. Army Lt. Ehren Watada

Throw that moonbat in jail.
Apparently the father never taught the son that it's immoral to steal an education by signing a contract with the military and then violate it. What exactly did he suspect the military did?
Here's a picture of him.
You know this POS?
ping
That scum sucking Colonel Ann Wright should be brought up on charges also.
"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God." (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)
He takes an oath.....He administers oaths to the enlisted but he wont live up to it...!
I googled his old man. I'm wondering now if he didn't join the Army with this in mind from the start. Need some Hawaii Freepers to follow the networks on this. Democrat tie in?
The puss needs to take off the National Defense ribbon.
From your link, check out the organizations supporting this guy.
It's the usual suspects:
After Downing Street: After Downing Street is a coalition working to expose the lies that launched the war and to hold accountable its architects, including through censure and impeachment.
Not in Our Name: War without end? Police State Restrictions? Attacks on Immigrants? Not in Our Name
Atlanta Anarchy and Leftist Group: A conduit for radical leftist people to get in touch.
And more!
What a disgrace.
If my old man were alive, he'd rip that Indianhead patch right off of him (and might even take the arm off with it).
This is the first I've heard the story. Disgusting. We're having my husband's official retirement ceremony out at the AZ Memorial tomorrow, and this wuss plans his grand announcement the same day? Ptui.
"Please make check out to "Not in Our Name" and note "Thank You LT Fund" on your check's memo line."
So, we see that honor has a price.....thirty pieces of silver, more or less?
I suppose the most serious charge they'll get him on is missing shipment. The day he does not get on the plane is when his world will change.
He could be a plant but for what? Many years turning big rocks into little rocks at Leavenworth?
