Leno to Host Carlin, Coulter on Wednesday
Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | 6/13/06 | AP Wire Story

"Tonight" host Jay Leno might want to consider wearing referee stripes on Wednesday's show when Ann Coulter and George Carlin are his guests.

Coulter, the acid-tongued conservative with a new book out, and Carlin, the quick-witted, antiestablishment comedian who's in the voice cast for the new animated film "Cars," were booked at separate times for the NBC late-nighter, a spokeswoman said Monday.

But the duo's meeting could produce serious fireworks for "Tonight," which usually limits its political fodder to Leno's bipartisan monologue jokes.

Coulter, author of "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," has drawn fire for attacking the four New Jersey widows who pushed for an independent commission to investigate the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attacks in which their husbands died.

In her book, Coulter accuses the women of "reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

An appearance by Coulter on another NBC series, "Today," led to a prickly exchange with host Matt Lauer over her comments on the widows.

Also scheduled for "Tonight" Wednesday is Scottish singer and songwriter KT Tunstall.

Carlin would be asking for a beatdown if he tries to go one on one against Ann, it could be pretty funny. There was another post on getting tickets if you are lucky enough to be in the area:

Leno is a first class liberal craphead I stopped watching a year ago, This sounds like a set-up to me. Dont cut Carlin short ,he is liberal but he isnt a dummy, and he believes his own crap.

Coulter, the acid-tongued conservative with a new book out, and Carlin, the quick-witted, antiestablishment comedian...

There you go. Acid-tongue vs. quick-wit. Anybody knows that conservatives are knee jerk, hate filled, and nearly stuporous. While the other side has heart, are the only intelligent ones, and wise.

I heard Ann on Rusty Humphreys last night and she said she was not appearing with Carlin because for their was no point in her debating a professional comedian.

She said something like that would be like pissing in the wind, but I cant be sure that was her exact metaphor because the radio connection was deteriorating.

He's over the hill. Ann will clean his clock.

Carlin's a little long in the tooth by now, and P'd off at EVERYTHING!! He has a hard time even blinking his eyes.
Twenty years ago it would've been interesting. He'll probably embarrass himself.

I hope Ann's bodyguard sits on the couch with her.

Carlin may have a whipped cream pie or something.

It was so much easier for the left when they could just sit back and laugh at James Kilpatrick.

You are entirely correct!

"Carlin, the quick-witted, antiestablishment comedian."

Excuse me? In what way in the last ten years has he shown himself to be quick-witted? He was always overrated by the leftist media establishment he was a part of, just as clods like Lenny Bruce were. Antiestablishment? Right--- and I suppose Margaret Cho is brave and funny too.

Ann's only problem is that Leno's audiences have been getting more and more filled with rabid leftists a la Bill Mahr's show, although it's not nearly as bad as Mahr's yet. It can be hard to come off well if the crowd claps at everything Leno and Carlin say and hisses at her, regardless of the fact that she'll be making the only coherent points.

Coulter needs a bodyguard to protect her from cream pies? I thought she could run better than that.

Funny. I never pegged Coulter as a coward.
