My point was that while Clinton's interior enforcement numbers were pathetically low, President Bush's numbers are so bad that it made even Clinton look good.

Hogwash. Deportations have stay relatively steady from 1977 to today at between 900 thousand to 1.2 million. In 1985 US deportations climbed slightly to 1,348,749. 1,767,400 in 1986 the year Reagan's amnesty IRCA was signed. But back down to 1,190,488 in 1987 and to 1,008,145 in Reagan's last year. Deportation increased during the second Clinton administration because of a NEW LAW...The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. The effect of IIRIRA was a larger number of immigrants were now considered legally deportable. Many who were already in the system were removed and now deportation levels have returned to historical norms. No new legislation has been passed to change the current law. That is the Congress's fault not Dubya's.

On September 5, 2001, Presidents Fox and Bush met in Washington to sign off on a framework for a bilateral migration accord. Dubya held three bi-national cabinet-level meetings and three presidential summits on immigration in his first year and a half as President. His positions have stayed true since his time as Governor of border state Texas. Yet some "Conservatives" claim betrayal and demand he give up his principles and capitulate to racists and fools. Fools dazzled by the Democrat National Media polls, and under the mistaken impression that they are a majority. They threaten to stay home every election and we keep on winning.

Rick Santorum just announced 500 chemical weapons found in Iraq. Boo-Ya! You can feel safe staying home next elections to keep your conservatism pure. We gonna kick butt again

If the border fringe really had influence they would have a leader who they didn't have to apologize for.

You don't need a Passport to leave the U.S. Only to return.

Perhaps you have never left the country. You are correct you do not need a passport to leave...you need a passport to enter another country...a natural result of leaving the USA. I needed a passport to enter Canada, England, Holland, and Germany.

I know of no instance where Mexico has refused to allow re-entry of an illegal alien. Name one.

Name an illegal alien who was apprehended while leaving the USA...Wow that's a good one. How about you name an illegal that successful returned to Mexico through a legal port, first. I know of no instance where Mexico has allowed re-entry of an illegal alien. I'm gonna need a little more proof than your word, Spiff.

In your post you claim that deportations of illegal aliens have been done as far back as 1977. You mention numbers of up to 1.7 million in some years. Now, where do you think those illegal aliens were deported to? Most were from Mexico and were deported back. Nearly none had passports. Non were required. Get a clue. We don't even ask Mexico before we dump illegals back across the fence. I've entered Mexico a number of times (I live on the border) and I can assure you that they don't require a passport to get in. Don't be so dumb.

>>>Granting citizenship to millions of criminals (yes, every damned one of them is, by definition, a criminal) future Democrat voters is NOT a good thing for a conservative Republican to be supporting.>>>>>

The meat of the issue bump!

When do I need a Passport ?

In some instances (Mexico, Canada, etc.), a valid driver's license and a birth certificate will suffice as the proof of citizenship; however, as indicated many countries require a passport to gain entry to their country and the United States State Department "recommends" a passport as evidence of citizenship in ALL cases.
But even if your right that all changes in 6 months when the illegals get trapped by Bush policy.

Get ready to get passports for Canada, Mexico - 5starsnews.com

Americans must have a passport for all travel to or from Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda by Dec. 31 this year.

You're just stuck on stupid.

Mexico will never require a passport for simply crossing the border into their country. They may require a Visa if you plan on staying over a certain period or travelling a certain distance beyond the border.

This is not a U.S. policy as the U.S. does not inspect or challenge you when you LEAVE the country. Mexico, however, can inspect and challenge when entering their country. On the border, they mostly don't and they certainly do not require a passport or any other kind of ID.

I'm done. Get ready to get passports for Canada, Mexico - 5starsnews.com

But thanks to the United States' ever-tightening security since the Sept. 11 attacks, Americans will be required to have passports to drive across the border by the end of 2007. Air and sea travelers will need passports even sooner.

That's passports to come back IN, not to LEAVE the U.S.

Where is Gov Wilson? The Hero of Prop 187!

Interesting, considering that Pete Wilson jumped on the Prop 187 bandwagon at the last minute- he was hardly a "hero", more of an opportunist.

And where is he? He was term limited out of office after being reelected- but you would have known that if you knew anything about California politics. But that's okay, it's always entertaining to read posts by someone who has only the thinnest sense of what she's talking about.

Fine then Wilson is not a "Hero." Do you have any? Maybe one that has won statewide election and tapped into the mythical voter interest in illegal immigration.

And where is he? He was term limited out of office after being reelected- but you would have known that if you knew anything about California politics.

There was a time when Governor of CA wasn't the end of a political carrier.

it's always entertaining to read posts by someone who has only the thinnest sense of what she's talking about.

I'm a man.
