Richardson Gets Good Press in Chicago
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | June 23, 3006 | Jeff Jones

Gov. Bill Richardson recently made a quick-turnaround trip to Chicago to take part in an immigration forum— scoring some Windy City press coverage in the process.

Richardson was in Chicago June 11 for an immigration panel discussion at the annual conference of the Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.

Richardson's comments at the gathering were the subject of a Chicago Sun-Times news story and a news spot on a CBS television station there.

"Yes, we have to strengthen our border security, but we also have to protect the millions of immigrants who are already in America," the Sun-Times quoted Richardson as saying. "Give them a fair chance, bring them out of the shadows. We're not talking about an amnesty."

Shipley said Richardson's trip expenses were covered by the DGA. Richardson, in his DGA role, has taken tens of thousands of dollars worth of free corporate jet flights from the world's largest smokeless-tobacco company.

Flight-tracking records obtained by the Journal indicate that a U.S. Smokeless Tobacco jet was in Santa Fe on June 11 and made a day trip to Chicago. Spokesman Jon Summers on Thursday refused to say whether Richardson went to Chicago on the tobacco firm's jet but added the DGA will file a contributions and expenses report with the federal government at the end of June.

The Journal's editorial page and liberal columnist lineup looks like the Compost or LASlimes these days, but at least their political reporter is keeping tabs on King Bill's doings.

This is news?!

The guy has gotten "good press" ever since he offered Monica a UN job at Bill's request and went on to give away our technology secrets to those commie countries the NY Times deems more worthy to have them.

Bill Richardson?

" ... As part of their professed "new covenant" with American voters, Al Gore and Bill Clinton proclaimed "responsibility starts at the top." Just where the top is has changed a lot since those two Blues Brothers blew into town in 1993.

Ask Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson, who long had the inside track to be Gore's choice for vice president. After rebuffing a request for his appearance a week earlier by the Senate Intelligence Committee, Richardson finally managed to find time away from the Gore campaign trail this week to sit down before the Senate Armed Services Committee to testify about two removable computer hard drives discovered missing from a "secure" vault at Los Alamos National Laboratory on May 7, but not reported missing until weeks later. The drives, containing classified information on U.S., Russian, French and Chinese nuclear secrets, then were "found" in a previously searched area tucked behind a copy machine.

A year ago the former New Mexico congressman sat before the same committee to argue against creating a separate, independent entity to monitor security practices at the national labs after it was learned China had obtained large amounts of classified information concerning the U.S. nuclear program. At the time Richardson boasted that "our nation's nuclear secrets are today safe and secure.
..."

That Bill Richardson?

Sounds like the kickoff of the media's Richardson for President campaign. They're going to build him up at every opportunity, mark my words. They know after '04 that the 'Rats are looking at what brought them success in '92 and '76: nominate a "moderate" Governor from a Southern (or Western) state. No more NE liberal Senators (except maybe Hillary).

Richardson is a total hack. He was Clinton's plumber on the Lewinsky scandal, and a total disaster as Sec. of Energy. But that won't stop the 'Rats (and other stupid voters) from supporting him. And the media will get all hot and wet over him, like they did Clinton.

The "Slum Times" giving good press to a Liberal is about as unexpected as a dog urinating on a hydrant.
