KABUL, Afghanistan — An insurgent attack on a British base killed two soldiers and an Afghan interpreter, military officials said Sunday, while at least 20 militants died during clashes and coalition airstrikes.

The deaths come amid a massive anti-Taliban campaign in southern Afghanistan involving more than 10,000 Afghan and coalition soldiers. It is the largest military offensive since the former regime's ouster in late 2001.

...

There has been a spike of violence in recent weeks as the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force prepares to take over security in southern Afghanistan from the U.S-led coalition.

On Sunday, coalition airstrikes killed at least nine Taliban militants in the same volatile province, Afghan and coalition officials said.

...

The continued violence has stirred British lawmakers fears' that security is rapidly deteriorating in Afghanistan. Britain currently has some 3,300 troops involved in the current military operation.

"There are signs that the tactics that have brought such devastation to Iraq are being replicated in Afghanistan," the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee said in a report Sunday on the foreign policy aspects of the anti-terror fight.

You know it's remarkable when you think about it- the way the MSM ignores Afghanistan.

The only article I've seen in the MSM recntly about Afghanistan is that we ought not to make them stop growing poppies as doing so destroys the economy there:)

Not forgotten at all. Especially to the families in this neck of the woods who lost their loved ones. I believe the count is 3 in this area.

That was such a good segue, it looked professional.

I hope we're putting some rocks in some socks.

The "resurgent" Taliban continues to get killed in large numbers. Unfortunately this time we also lost a two allied soldiers and an Afghan interpreter. May they rest in peace, and may God comfort their families.

Long after Binny goon ball is dead the WOT shall still be fought. WOT is global in dimension. For all we know, OIF and OEF may be the last two wars we fight in the context of freeing a given nation from the grips of Islamic radicalism. The rest of the nations under the yoke of Islam who as we understand are equally guilty of spawning Hell's children may be altered without going to war. Guess time will tell.
