H. Paul Pressler IV the Shover Of Words In People's Mouths?

Bugger mercy.
- - - -

Which, if I understand Biblical priorities at all, would indicate that you have 0.0000% need of any mercy.

Was sainthood a quick thing or a long drawn out process?

Pretty much everyone in Corporate America dealing with Sarbanes-Oxley was affected by Lay's shenanigans.

Every one seems to believe that Ken lay was some kind of brilliant evil mastermind who singlehandedly controlled the world.

Enron's downfall was caused by many people - Lay played his prominent role, but Andrew Fastow and Jeff Skilling were the guys who actually figured out how to game the system and they had plenty of enablers from Lay to complacent shareholders to aggressive accountants to Congress to capricious tax rulings.

Lay was just one of a whole cast of scummy characters.

Dear wideawake,

As well, blaming Mr. Lay solely for Sarbanes-Oxley seems to negate the moral agency of Messrs. Sarbanes and Oxley.

"Second, because one can easily guarantee that one will not be wiped out by fraud at one specific public company."

I've stated, and you can do your own research if you elect to verify this, that Enron employees did not have this liberty to the degree afforded most employees at most companies; and they were denied it entirely at the most important time.

Anyway you have your opinion; mine is that executive fraud is not, to each individual, the same level of violence as a rape; but this violence was done to THOUSANDS.

We send up gas station robbers for long terms in hard prisons; Ken deserved no less.

Here are some interesting facts:

How Enron Worked the President ... (This is an interesting bit of information that you don't hear much about.)

A. Enron's chairman did meet with the president and the vice president in the Oval Office.

B.. Enron gave $420,000 to the president's party over three years.

C.. It donated $100,000 to the president's inauguration festivities.

D.. The Enron chairman stayed at the White House 11 times.

E.. The corporation had access to the administration at its highest level and even enlisted the Commerce and State Departments to grease deals for it.

F.. The taxpayer-supported Export-Import Bank subsidized Enron for more than $600 million in just one transaction

Scandalous!!

G.. BUT...the president under whom all this happened WASN'T George W. Bush.

SURPRISE It was Bill Clinton!!!!

AND YOU'LL NEVER HEAR THIS FROM THE MSM.

Ken Lay called President Bush for a government bail out...President Bush told him NO WAY!!!

"It's a meaningless phrase you invented"

Meaningless to some perhaps..

Adjective: mass mas

1. Gathered or tending to gather into a mass or whole
- aggregate, aggregated, aggregative

Noun: criminal krim(u)nul or krimin(u)l

1. Someone who has committed (or been legally convicted of) a crime
- felon, crook, outlaw, malefactor

"I wouldn't victimologize myself as a person "affected" by Lay's malfeasance in any significant way"

Our justice system decided differently.

"He lost his good name, his fortune and the stress apparently put him into an early grave"

That's what happens to criminals sometimes. He still did not pay his debt.

"He probably would have preferred 10 years in prison to the coronary"

Then he should have come clean at the beginning and saved himself the stress. Instead, he lied and tried to hide his crimes.

He took his chances and lost the game.

Enron employees did not have this liberty to the degree afforded most employees at most companies

They absolutely did have every right that every other American has.

Enron did not have the power to alter federal law.

We send up gas station robbers for long terms in hard prisons; Ken deserved no less.

We're not debating whether Lay deserved a good long prison sentence. We all agree on that.

My original point is that people here are expressing venom toward Lay that they normally reserve for people like Hitler or Osama bin Laden.

In other words, they've lost all sense of proportion. I mean I've seen comments here regarding his death that remind me of similar comments made when Zarqawi was killed.

How can the two be compared, really? Weird stuff.

Our justice system decided differently.

Our justice system, thankfully, punishes people in accordance with the law and not in accordance with how loudly the wronged party complains or how much the media hate the perpetrator.

Lay committed fraud and was convicted of committing fraud.

Meaningless to some perhaps..

So, according to the definitions you've supplied, Ken Lay was "a crook who tended to gather into a whole."

"Our justice system, thankfully, punishes people in accordance with the law and not in accordance with how loudly the wronged party complains or how much the media hate the perpetrator"

Sometimes.

Ten years in prison is, indeed, indicative of grave crimes.

His name will be justly despised.

I am sorry you have a problem with grammatical considerations, but the definition and phrasing work fine.

Mass murderer, mass criminal. No difference.

Read some books, search the internet. The phrasing was in use long before this instance.
