BEIRUT, Lebanon -- Before Assem Hammoud and his associates decided to try to bomb New York's PATH trains, they had considered several other targets: the Brooklyn Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge and the forests of California, where they would set a huge fire, Lebanese security officials told Newsday.

Sorry about the excerpt, but I believe Newsday is in the "Index" of forbidden sources.

This cat doesn't fit in very well with the "poor downtrodden" victim template. More like another arrogant POS on a messianic ego trip, fueled by TROP ™.

And to the New Yorkers I say, the ones that will eventually get through are the ones that could have been identified by any one of the many secret programs exposed by the New York Times. Think about it the next time you pay money for that rag.

When I went to school there were a number of Indian, Pakistani, Iranian and Arab students. At the risk of painting with far too broad a brush, I will attempt to characterize them:

The Indians were clearly the most materialistic (God bless them), though they suffered from a bit of lefty fever, a legacy of their thoroughly British educations. (If you want to know what fads were current in England two generations ago, talk to a contemporary Indian. In the day it was P.G. Wodehouse.) They resented U.S. military support for Pakistan, but the U.S. was looking for a bulwark against the Soviets. They seemed to have abundant common sense, so their socialistic economic outlook was sort of uncharacteristic.

The Pakis were conflicted, identifying in some ways with their Indian subcontinental brethren, but harbored some reservations because of the military situation. Few showed any religious inclinations whatsoever.

Iranians were the most overwhelmingly political, their fury focused on the Shah and the U.S. Government. About half were women, some of whom were westernized, others traditional. The males were at least half communists. I don't think 1979 was welcome by most of them.

The Arabs were all males. They were like spoiled upper middle class American kids: horny, academically indifferent, aimless. They envied America's economic achievements and realized that their own countries' prosperity was an accident of geology.

This guy seems to be right out of the Arab template.

I almost wish terrorists would try this. It might be one of the few things that leftists would get upset about!

[Burning California's Forrests] might be one of the few things that leftists would get upset about!

Actually, leftists are easily upset, all the time, but at whom? If the Islamofascists pulled off something like this, we know whom the leftist would blame, Amerika and Bushitler.

Terror suspects plotted against Brooklyn Bridge

I own that bridge and they better leave it alone.

I bought it from a nice feller in New York a couple of years ago.
