Spitzer and Clinton Lead G.O.P. Rivals by Millions
NY Terrorist Tip Sheet ^ | July 15, 2006 | JENNIFER MEDINA

Showing their fund-raising prowess, the Democrats Eliot Spitzer and Hillary Rodham Clinton have collected millions of dollars in recent months, many times more than their Republican opponents running for governor and United States senator.

Mrs. Clinton, who is seeking her second term in the Senate, has about $22 million cash on hand, 100 times the amount for either of her Republican rivals, John Spencer, a former mayor of Yonkers, and Kathleen Troia McFarland, a Reagan-era Pentagon official, according to numbers provided by their campaigns yesterday.

Mr. Spitzer, the attorney general, who began raising money for his campaign for governor nearly two years ago, is continuing to outpace his opponents. When he files his report on Monday, he is expected to report having collected more than $9 million since January, according to his campaign aides.

John Faso, the Republican candidate for governor, has brought in about $1.5 million in the past six months, while Thomas R. Suozzi, the Nassau county executive, who is running against Mr. Spitzer in the Democratic primary this fall, has raised about $4 million since January.

The candidates for United States Senate are required to file their reports with the Federal Elections Commission today...

Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut, who is seeking re-election and is fighting a tough challenge in next month’s Democratic primary, reported having nearly $4.3 million on hand, having raised $1.3 million in the last three months.

His challenger, Ned Lamont, has $50,000 on hand, according to a rough estimate by Tom Swan, Mr. Lamont’s campaign manager.

Mr. Swan said the campaign had raised and spent about $1.9 million in the past three months, including a $1 million contribution from Mr. Lamont.

Mr. Lamont, a cable television executive from Greenwich, has donated roughly $1.5 million of his own money to the campaign.

New York is lost. Pull back the troops and re-establish our new boundary at the Massachusetts and Vermont borders! Oh, wait a minute...

True, but a Presidential election is far less reliant on paid media due to its very high profile.

The Gubenatorial and Senate races, by contrast, aren't drawing a great deal of attention.

Unfortunately, that statement could apply equally to either dollars or votes.

I wonder how much of hitlery's $22 million treasure chest is illegal?

It's obvious she'll be running in 2008, are the New Yorkers going to put themselves to the expense of another election to fill her spot in the senate if G'd forbid she should win, and how much time can she devote to the citizens of NY in the meantime if she's running for the highest office in the nation?
