It may not be one day, but the day will come and Syria will miscalculate.
And Damascus will be finished.

I don't think they'd even dare to try anything themselves with their crappy military.

The official stance, and this is the truth, is that the trucks passing through that the Israeli army is bombing, are trucks for humanitarian aid, carrying food, equipment, and donations that the Syrian people raised or aid from other countries

Well, we know all about the veracity of extremist Islamist truth -- it's down there with the liberals' and the MSM's "truth."

The Syrians must be on drugs if they think that even a putz like Olmert will give up the Golan Heights. Here you have territory that was already used for 19 years to bombard Israel with artillery and mortars - this before the advent of cheap and available rockets. Further, it was only Israel's possession of the strategic depth of the Golan that prevented the '73 war from being an major Israeli defeat, possibly leading to Israel's destruction and the simultaneous nuking of dozens of Arab cities and the Aswan High Dam.

Add to that the fact that Syria has provided money, arms, training and refuge for Hezbollah, Hamas and a host of other barbaric terroristic organizations, and you can see that even giving Syria one square inch of the Golan would be seen everywhere as a sign of weakness - reinforced by the fact that Israel is in the catbird seat, able to effectively destroy Syria's armed forces in a matter of days.

Giving Syria control of the literal high ground, with its commanding view of all of northern Israel, would quite literally be insane. I don't believe that any government that tried such a thing would survive for more than a few days.

Assad isn't very powerful, unlike his father, and the GENERALS are basicly running the country....

Israel kicking the Syrians means nothing but good things for America and Iraq, as well as wiping out another Iranian client...

Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

some interesting facts for the oldest, continually inhabited city in the world...

This happened when Israeli planes bombed trucks carrying car oil.

Yeah. (Snort!) You get lots of secondaries from a truck full of auto oil.

About the only factual thing in this piece of ridiculous puffery is that Syria doesn't enjoy the same influence over Hezbollah that they once had. The Iranians came blowing into town, whacked a wasp nest, handed Syria the stick and said "you got it" over their retreating shoulder. Not a happy position.

Should the IDF wish to proceed north to the Bekaa valley they will need to protect their flank from the Syrians. This may be done diplomatically, by static defense, or by pre-emptive attack. I do not think that Mr. Assad can afford simply to sit there should this eventuate. And static defense isn't the IDF's style. So the question boils down to "Are they coming that far north or not? Because if they are, they'll be coming for us." And that's really not a happy position.

Ah, eve of war in Syria is a lot like the eve of a new year here. Or Christmas Eve.... or Eva Longoria.

I can't understand why?

Syria is home to over a dozen official headquarters for terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

I mean, they must be truely shocked anyone would want to got to war with them.
