A doctorate from Cambridge University in England is quite an achievement. I wonder if his wife fabricated these charges -- not unusual in a divorce or child-custody battle, which this seems to be.

I do wonder about the case. Women do on occasion lie about things (as do men).
Unfortunately, some of those types DO run our government. One of them, in fact, was elected to the highest office in the land....twice.
But, if I had to guess at what's going on here; horny, old man meets young girl who will do ANYTHING (including marry said horny, old man) to get out of Latvia. Once she is stateside, she has the legal right to seperate him from his children, his assets and his sanity, and usually with little or no provocation, but a charge of rape against a political figure is a sure-fire means of blackmail (assuming the allegations are false).
If you ask me, they both got exactly what they deserved.
