I, for one, love your duck joke.
I've known a lot of people who were that annoying. lol
Your cat / kitten photos make me weak-kneed about getting another kitten, which I have *determined* I'm not going to do ... yet. My older cat died during the night last November. I'm not sure the other one, who is 14+ and part-Siamese (he inherited the aggravating part of being Siamese) would take to a newbie, and I'm in a place right now where it's better to not get another one. But those pictures sure stir up some fond memories.
That joke had me rolling when I first read it.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how it is to loose a cat. I actually had to my cat down last July 9th (from old age symptoms). She was 15 years old. I miss her everyday, but I had to do it for her own good, I didn't want her to suffer. A vet didn't need to tell me she was ready to pass on, I could see it in her eyes and her frail body. It broke my heart to do it but she died peacefully. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do and I cried so hard I couldn't breathe.
After a couple months recovering from the loss of my cat I decided it was time for another companion, so I visited the Milwaukee Humane Society one afternoon. I went to the kitty section and Lainey came right up to me through the door and kissed my hand.
The rest is history and she's the best kitty in the world and I love her a ton :)

Grown cats get very territorial when a little newbie comes along. So like you said maybe it's best to wait :)
