Kimi Raikkonen repeated his 2005 qualifying position for McLaren at Hockenheim on Saturday afternoon to beat Michael Schumacher. But with Felipe Massa third, Ferrari look very threatening despite too much oversteer in the final session, and everything will depend on fuel loads on Sunday.

On paper, Ferrari look set for a strong run tomorrow, and as in Indianapolis, Fernando Alonso has a lot to do to safeguard his championship lead.

What is notable here is Alonzo being 7th on the grid, a full 1.7 seconds slower than Schumacher.
That's a lot in Formula 1.
Schumacher could make up some much needed points on Alonzo.
Going to be an interesting race.

Wasn't there some rumors of Raikkonen joining Ferrari next season?

If Schumacher retires, its a done deal.

If Schumacher doesn't retire, it could still happen, but I find it hard to believe it could since Ferrari is a team that lives around Schumacher. Their second car is just there to act as a blocker for anyone that could challange Schumacher and to help with pit strategies.

Next year on Mercedez, it could be Kimi and Alonso which would probably be a good thing, because mercedez tends to not push team orders and both cars are out there to win.

I really feel for you guys down in The States as you get stuck with the Speedvision feed. Up North here eh TSN does the pre and post-race stuff but hands the race off to the main F1 feed and the British commentators. I've watched races on Speed (sometimes the USGP gives us no choice) and there's really no comparison. Oops! Sato just out now.

Enjoy the race, all!

Turns out Kimi Raikkonen was on a light fuel load and a 3-stop strategy.
An easy win for Schumacher and a Ferrrari 1-2.
Now Schumacher is just 11 points behind Alonzo with 6 races to go.
And Schumacher has momentum on his side.
Next 6 races are going to be exciting for the championship.

Great race! Glad to see Shumi make up points on Alonso. The rest of the season will be much more interesting. A stronger McLaren and Honda is alos a nice development. If only BMW could get its act together.

Btw, I ususally TiVo the race and watch it on Sunday evenings, so I can't post on this thread until I watch the race myself :)
