Democrats Scrambling To Organize Voter Turnout ( Dean has a Big Secret )
Washington Post ^ | August 2, 2006 | Jim VandeHei

Top Democrats are increasingly concerned that they lack an effective plan to turn out voters this fall, creating tension among party leaders and prompting House Democrats to launch a fundraising effort aimed exclusively at mobilizing Democratic partisans.

At a meeting last week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi criticized Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean for not spending enough party resources on get-out-the-vote efforts in the most competitive House and Senate races...

Pelosi -- echoing a complaint common among Democratic lawmakers and operatives -- has warned privately that Democrats are at risk of going into the November midterm elections with a voter-mobilization plan that is underfunded and inferior to the proven turnout machine run by national Republicans.

The Senate and House campaign committees are creating their own get-out-the-vote operations instead, using money that otherwise would fund television advertising and other election-year efforts.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rahm Emanuel (Ill.) -- who no longer speaks to Dean because of their strategic differences -- is planning to ask lawmakers and donors to help fund a new turnout program run by House Democrats.

He recruited Michael Whouley, a specialist in Democratic turnout, to help oversee it.

"I am not waiting for anyone anymore who said they were going to" build a turnout operation, Emanuel said.

Democrats' organizing has been slowed by a philosophical dispute between Dean... and congressional Democrats, who want to use party resources for an all-out push this fall.

In a letter sent to Democrats on Monday, Dean said: "We've got a big secret . . . and it is going to help us win."

Compounding concerns, liberal donors such as financier George Soros, who helped fund a $100 million get-out-the-vote program in 2004, have soured on what they regard as short-term fixes offered by party leaders, several major donors said.

Dean's Big Secret: No secret here in Vermont, he is going to call out his bend-over-boys to pound the streets to get out the vote.

Organized via the web.

I'm sure that many dems will vote pubbie because of it.

The same way they do this, they could organize their 'voters' to get proper id's.

Dean's Big Secret is that he is asking "Democratic donors for $25 a month to fund mobilization programs nationwide..."

Top Democrats are increasingly concerned that they lack an effective plan to turn out voters this fall, creating tension among party leaders and prompting House Democrats to launch a fundraising effort aimed exclusively at mobilizing Democratic partisans regarding nearly every issue.

Fixed it.

Another "secret" is that they get the dead voters to vote early and often...

I really do fear that after the November elections, Dean will get dumped and we'll lose the gift that keeps giving generously. Plus Hitlerly wants Scream out of there when she starts up.

The media is getting pretty good at backpedaling their election predictions, explaining away their biased polls, and excusing the failures of the Democrats to move their agenda forward. Usually, they wait until after the election has been lost to do it. I guess they are just warming up for November.

If the Democrats think they can rally beyond their base loonies with an agenda consisting of "anybody but Bush" and "we're not as bad" has a thing to learn about selling the message.

When you stand for nothing, no one will stand with you.

Hitlary is one step ahead of everyone . In her anticipation of the Far Left Deaniacs keeping Dean in power , Hitlary is forming her own political machine to bypass the DNC and Deans madness .
Hitlary figures if she can't get Dean out of there , she'll go around him . Smart move on her part, she is very dangerous and should never be underestimated .

Dean is elected by state party officials. For decades Democrats have sent money to the DNC and the DNC spends it on close races. Local party people don't like that UNLESS they are in a state with one of those close races.

Dean has divided up the money so that state party organizations all get their "FAIR" share of DNC money. Dean also raises money and sends it along to the state organizations too.

The state party people are the members of the DNC. They get to elect the Chairman.

NOW you tell me... are those state party officials going to vote out Dean.. the man that lines their pockets with money ... to put in Hillary's goon who will cut them off to line Hillary's pockets?
