US airlines were the ones targeted apparently... or at least UK-US flights.

All in-bound services to be suspended

"We should never forget that the west got to this sad state of affairs through insane immigration laws."

That, and about twenty years of failing to recognize the threat posed by these crazy bastards. The recent signal, from Conn., that Americans have very limited memories, and are tiring of the battle is not going to bode well for the WOT. I dread the day Dubya leaves office; he'll be replaced by some self-serving, PC, poll-driven poseur looking for a "legacy", whichever party he or she stems from.

Sky News just said if this plot had played out it would have "SURPASSED 9/11".

What? No glasses or contacts without their cases? Looking through tampons and kleenexes? At least they're looking at wheelchairs more closely - airport provided only (not that someone within the airport couldn't rig them).

Ok, putting it together we have some explosive in liquid form being hidden in tampons and detonated by a cell phone, but I don't get how sunglasses and contact lenses fit in.

Not likely.

They are reporting the terrorists were to use liquid explosives. No liquids allowed on the planes and parents are being required to taste the liquids in baby's bottles.

Crap! Sorry but that is just how I feel. I was going to make airline reservations for Montana in the morning. Ya know Montana, where the missing middle eastern students where supposed to go and the other ones DID go?

It's already midday Thursday in Europe. I would think they would have done that already if they were going to, unless Scotland Yard was not sharing info with the continental carriers.

Nerve Agent? Why bother boarding a flight? All they have to is expose it at the airport, look at the crowded terminals

There was a 24 episode last season about terrorists using a nerve gas canister to kill a docked submarines crew and take over the submarine. They may have had masks or some other means to counter the nerve agent, like for example injecting the antidote before boarding the plane or while in the restroom. Just guessing.
