Settle down and let this thing play out. I'm not at all sure that Israel lost. Hezbollah held south Lebanon, which is now occupied by Israel and will be held by international troops.

So what if Israel now holds much of South Lebanon. It held this territory until two years ago when it pulled out allowing Hezbollah to move in. It didnt trade land for peace, it just got tired of defending itself in Lebanon. The Israelis have gotten fat and weak.

Why not tell Israel what we think about Israel's losing?

Tell Bush that we should give up on proxy wars. Until we have a declared alliance against a declared enemy, we can't rely on other countries to come through. Israel blew it, but maybe Israel (under Olmert the peacenik) had no intention of doing much more than it did. Which is its right as a sovereign nation.

Personally, I think we need to be a little patient to see if Olmert has a second act planned. There is so much more going on here than we see.

It wasn't Olmert who drew up the UN cease-fire. It was Dr. Rice, who is employed by George W. Bush. Did she go out on her own? Doubtful

Israel killed over 500 hesbullsh** troops. This is not losing except by perception and that is the problem. The muslim world percives that the hezzies won, therefore they won. Israel actually won this tussel. Their leader screwed up and could have made this a more decisive victory in which no one could dispute, but he didn't. Don't blame Bush, he gave Israel a green light, but Olmert decided not to use it and thought an air campaign would win big time. It didn't win as decisvely ad he thought and he was almost begging for a cease fire at the end.

The fact that Israel was able to race to the river in such a short time shows how strong they are.

W is not responsible for this cease fire, he did what he could after Olmert blew his chances at a big win. I, for one, will not write to Bush and citisize him on this.
