I know you mean well but without realizing it you are being very disrespectful.

What you are really showing when you do that is that the US is superior to or has conquered Israel.

You should fly the Israeli flag on a separate pole, parallel to the US flag if you really want to show both flags the proper respect.

Flag etiquette is not something we get to make up to suit our selves or our situations.

If he's an American, the US flag is superior to any other flag. It's supposed to be flown higher than any other being flown.
