I agree with everything but the Hezbos and their buds hailing the agreement. No, we're the great satan and our policies are being revealed for what they were all along. That's the card they'll play.
Have a great day.

I agree with most of what you say. The Lebanese who cheer Hezbollah do themselves a disservice and deserve the danger and harm Hezbollah brings them. But to me, Syria is the key. We need to focus on Syria and to destroy its ability to assist our enemies. Allowing Syria to play the role Cambodia played makes no sense and assures that our enemies, Iraq's enemies, and Israel's enemies are safe to plot and to kill.

Greg, you're right on target as far as I am concerned. It's sad that you have to make the point. It should be a universally accepted truth in conservative circles.
Oh yes, I forgot. It is...

In recent months, we have been bombarded with reports of the death of the Bush Doctrine.I either missed them, or DISmissed them as yammerings of the looney left.

When, or when, are we ever really going to let the "professionals" wage war, when it is "declared"? Seems to go for the Israeli Military and politicians as well.
It is so frustrating. And this isn't the first time this mistake has been made. Unfortunately I served in one where 55,000 of our brothers (and sisters) didn't come home and countless thousands of others did with injuries some have yet still to recover from.
I could go off on a "rant" now, but ... well you know. To what avail. Noise from the bleacher seats is seldom heard.

I didn't serve in the military, but it is very important to me, and I do realize the dynamics that have gone unsaid. Thanks for your service. I only wish all people deserved the price you and others paid for us.

Thanks. I believe "all" deserve it but am sad that so few really appreciate it fully. But not much I can do about it. Thanks again and keep on "keepin' on!

only in the wet dreams of moveon.org and john kerry.
The bush doctrine has simple moved outside of the mediots and the pundits.
IT is OBVIOUS they can not be trusted.

If you think the Bush Doctrine is dead raise your hand and vote for a cease fire between a Democratic State and a terrorist army: Maybe I'm not the only one at FR who's view of Condi has turned less favorable. She was just too fast to jump on the "We Need a Ceasefire Now" train. The UN "solution" was exactly what Condi said she wanted in the first week. Not what I was hearing at the time (or thought I was hearing) from Bush.

The UN "solution" was exactly what Condi said she wanted in the first week. Not what I was hearing at the time (or thought I was hearing) from Bush. This is the source of major frustration for me. You're absolutely right. The problem is, who sets policy, Condi or the President?
Essentially this appears as if Bush was talking out of both sides of his face. It doesn't instill confidence or trust.
I did not support the clamoring for a ceasefire, and I'm not glad one was voted in. And I'm not a happy camper with the idea we voted for such a thing. Pitiful...

I doubt Bush would appreciate if there was a higher authority who decided that the Iraq war ends tomorrow because Bush has not come to a satisfactory conclusion after three plus years. You can doubt whatever you like, the fact remains that the Olmert government had no stomach for this fight and I suspect that Olmert gave Bush signals testifying to that fact. At that point Bush does the UN shuffle.
If I had my druthers we'd be out of the UN and the UN would be out of Manhattan. None of that changes the realpolitik that we just witnessed.
Olmert accepts with open arms a resolution that is weaker than the former resolution calling for the disarmament of Hizbullah and it's Bush's fault? Come on man, Israel is a sovereign state.
