Screening airline passengers of a certain ethnic or religious background to uncover those who pose a potential terrorist threat would risk alienating the Muslim community, prominent Muslims cautioned today.
The Times reported this morning that the Government is discussing with airport operators plans to introduce a screening system that allows security staff to select people who are behaving suspiciously, have an unusual travel pattern or are from certain ethnic or religious backgrounds.
It is understood that officials at the Department for Transport believe that this system would not only be more effective at identifying terrrorists, but would also greatly relieve queues.
However, Ali Dizaei, a chief superintendent in the Metropolitan Police and one of Britain's most senior Muslim officers, said that tougher checks based on ethnicity would create a new offence of "travelling whilst Asian".
"It become hugely problematic when it's based on ethnicity, religion and country of origin. I don't think there's a stereotypical image of a terrorist."

Booo ficken Hooo. I wish these people would just shut their Koran-Holes.
If you don't want to be lumped in with terrorists, start cracking down in your own communities on terrorists.

Boo fricking hoo! Who gives a rat's rearend? They're already *isolated* and hiding terrorists among them, refusing to assililate into our society. Reusing to cooperate in indentifying terrorists and illegals in their midst.
To: vimto
Cry foul? WTF, all they have to do is clean up their own little house, like the Christians did the KKK and we can all live in peace.
But no, they want to moan and groan.

"There cannot be, nor should there be, any allowance made for those who seek to profit by terror. This is a lesson that, when ignored or forgotten, leads to the ruin of civilized living."
Very good line from the above Canadian thread.

Personally I think they should be profiled. It certainly seems that most of the terrorists come from a middle eastern background to me.

I live in an area that has a very high Asian population, as in Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Laotian, etc. They have a high respect for life and you don't see them blowing up their babies or wearing rags on their heads. I doubt they want to be associated at all with the Muslims. Where does this "Asian" term come from for Muslims?

I know - that is a strange type of threat isn't it.?
In code I think it means something like "we will continue to bomb you if you don't cave in on profiling, on foreign policy, on freedom of speech,,,,"

Tough. ALL the terrorists are members of the ideology of death and destruction. None are anything else. To NOT choose members of this group for special screening is madness.
Will PC get more of us killed again?

I don't think there's a stereotypical image of a terrorist Right. Because lately we've had such a problem with those blond haired scandanavian terrorists of the Christian faith.

I totally agree - it is euphemism used by the Media and police when they mean Muslims, It catches all other 'Asians' in the net which is very unfair because most, maybe all the others are well integrated and as far as I am concerned have mostly (with some exceptions) become positive members of our society.
They will not use the word Muslim if it can be helped,
