For those who may never have served in an elite unit, laughing and singing in the face of death, boasting about wanting to fight and welcoming the sting of battle, might seem like the behavior of disturbed, socially disconnected people.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The soldier faces moral dillemas everyday that most of us would never see in a lifetime. Deciding who dies and why, is the sort of question you never stop revisiting. Here's a discussion of one aspect that is worthy of attention:

It isn't our soldiers I don't have faith in.

It is our politicians.

Unless we get overwhelmed at home by a combination of disaffected youth organized by marxist liberals and civilian invaders. The film V was an embarrassing piece of propaganda, but the scene of a tank battle in the midwest USA with the implication it was fighting a civil war disturbed me.

Didn't see the movie but I'm with you. Even more disturbing is the fact that even while killing 600,000 of each other, the Blue and the Gray had FAR FAR FAR more in common with each other than the Blue and the Red do now.

It's the same in Israel, apparently. The soldiers were going about doing their job and the politicians wimped out and called them off at the request of Condeleeza Rice and the (ugh!) U.N..

Excellent article..and about time someone set the record straight on the military. It is so exhausting to hear the anti military libs rant on and on about how poor and ignorant our troops are...nice to read a refreshing pro military article for a change

I dunno, I liked that movie. It was more or less a message about evil rulers who see the masses as expendable cattle and that governments are accountable to their people, not the other way around. It had undertones of the Indian/British struggle with the modern biological warfare scare factor to it.

Our military has always had great warriors. Too bad that now they have to have warrior attornies following them into combat to insure they don´t get shot in the back by liberals and politicians on the battlefield.

No, the other poster was talking about the movie "V for Vandetta". On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest, I give it a 6.
