Muslim group Hizb ut-Tahrir have marched to the US Embassy in London, to call for the establishment of a caliphate so that the armies of Islam could be unleashed on Israel and America. See the photo report:

Hmmm. Three things about the "Armies of Islam":

1. When faced by serious Western military power they;

a. die in great numbers
b. crumble
c. surrender

2. After dying in great numbers/crumbling/surrendering, they;

a. take to guerilla war, killing more of their own than they do us
b. hide behind women and children while doing it
c. consider merely making us look bad to be a "victory" (inferiority complexes suck, don't they?)

3. Would use any war they unleashed to;

a. garner sympathy and cash from western intellegencia/governments who engage in the intellectual equivalent of wearing ladies underwear.
b. Unleash more terrorism, and perhaps a WMD, and then blame the US for it, while claiming to be the aggrieved party (see 2c, above), and then beg for mercy like the frightened-schoolgirl-pansies they are.
c. Resort to the tried-and-true method of tricking the intellectuals into believing that any response that shows signs of kicking butt is "disproportionate", which brings in the UN to break it up and then do nothing, effectively muzzling the forces of good in the chains of public opinion (as shaped and presented by the media).

I say; bring it on. No matter what the West (in particular the US) does, it will be criticized from within and without, so perhaps it's better to just get it over with, destroy what passes for regimes and culture in the region, and force western-style, pluralistic society up their collective rectums.

Heck, you know what my biggest problem with Iraq is? That we stopped beating the snot out of them and went to a "Hearts and Minds" campaign with indecent haste. In the process, we made a hero (and political figure!) out of Al-Sadr. We haven't unleashed our trump card (the Kurds) to scare the Shias and Sunni's shyteless (not to mention the Turks and Iranians).

I sum it up as: we didn't kill enough Muslims.

It is statements like this that cause us to think that Muslims just might want to get rid of the rest of us. /sarc

Yo know what they should have done? (Knowing full well that hindsight is 20/20) Made an example of Fallujah.

You invest (surround) the town. Give the women/children/elderly and infirm 24 hours to get out through carefully-controlled corridors. Then give the men 24 hours to get out, in the same fashion.After that, you send int he armored bulldozers with infantry, tank and air support and the second you get hostile fire, you return the town to nature. Too bad about anyone left behind; they were probably there to cause trouble anyway.

As for killing enough Muslims, I doubt that solves the problem (as satisfying as it is). We need to show some resolve (even if it's a ruthless demonstration) and let these folks know we're not fooling, and that they'd better grow up and get with the program.

In war, the defeated side has to be exhausted, demoralized, beaten, and subdued to the point of abject surrender. We never had that in mind from the start in Iraq, with all our talk of "shock and awe". It appeared that we were going to try to scare them to death.

Anything short of exhausted, demoralized, beaten, abject surrender is almost certain to give rise to organized resistance; that would be true anywhere. How much more so in a socity with a strong current of fanaticism?

What would Germany or Japan have been like after WWII if we had not beaten the holy starch out of them?

Beating them senseless is not a problem. The problem is that we're dealing with a stunted, intellectually-stagnant society that hasn't made the great leap out of the Middle Ages.

Their mindset has to be changed. Since logic and reason do not work, we have to give them another reason; make them suffer. Only when they are reduced to eating flies and drinking their own urine will they be sufficiently "conditioned" to seek a way out. The way out is Western Civilization, and by that time, they'll be willing to take as much of it as they can, as if it were free ice cream.

Oh, I don't disagree with you (although I do believe we went too far at Hiroshima).

Been trying to wake people up to this menace to the West for many years:
( Notice anything familiar about that salute? )

Islam, a Religion of Peace®? ( links, blogs, quips, quotes, aggravating pictures ) is located here- click the Picture, and scroll backwards:

...and the barbarians are already inside our gates.

Never, ever, forget:

Where It's 9-11 all the Time: Click the Picture:

"Where it's nine-eleven all the time
and no Sun sets, and no clocks chime
where no voice speaks and no bird trills
the Moon hangs frozen o'er the hills
The winds are still, they seem to say,
Reflect, remember, stop to pray..."

...and at our neighbour's gates, as well:

An example of the "disproportional" argument I used earlier, present by the inimitable Mark Steyn:

Enjoy!

And to think that the democrats are still fighting against listening in on phone calls from Al Qaeda while they also work on their Terrorist Bill Of Rights.

The democrats will do ANYTHING to get back in power. They will even make it easy for the terrorists to bring the war back to our own streets and walmarts. Anything to try to get the American people to vote for "change".

In the end this is what will happen.

Our choice is to do it now or wait. If we wait we'll loose millions upon millions more than we need to. They cannot be allowed to further arm or gain more confidence.

Your analysis is excellent. Try sending it to the New York Times.

OK, don't bother.
