Declaring himself a "non-combatant," U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, in remarks at a New Haven press event Friday, raised anew the question of whether his "independent" candidacy will help Republicans hold onto three Congressional seats in Connecticut -- and control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Lieberman -- who after losing an Aug. 8 Democratic primary to Ned Lamont has launched a third-party bid to hold onto his seat in the Nov. 7 general election -- was asked whether he still endorses Diane Farrell, Joe Courtney and Chris Murphy, three Democrats looking to unseat endangered Republican incumbents Chris Shays, Rob Simmons and Nancy Johnson.
Im a non-combatant, Lieberman declared. I am not going to be involved in other campaigns.
I think its better if I just focus on my own race.
Its a little awkward for me now to endorse the Democratic candidates in the general election, he said, since they all endorsed my opponent,

Wow....basically, Joe is saying "for all you wingnuts and moonbats who have taken control of the party and abandoned me, shove it up your a#$!
Good for Lieberman.
The DUmmies at KOS will not be happy.
8-)
Chris Shays, Rob Simmons and Nancy Johnson
Aren't they all democrats.
I am so confused. Conneticut politics!
We need Mark Twain to sort this out.
The funny part is that the same 5 or 6 pessimists here on Free Republic will ignore reality and declare Lieberman a Democrat even though he's officially filed papers to switch parties to Independent as well as is refusing to back any Democrats for Office.
The reality, however, is that Democrats now only have 43 Senators left in Office. They've kicked Lieberman out. Lose a few more and the Dems won't even be able to mount a Senate filibuster.
Meanwhile...
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton hosted Connecticut Senate candidate Ned Lamont at her Westchester County home Friday morning, discussing campaign strategy and fundraising in an hourlong meeting over coffee, Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said.
"It was a great meeting. Senator Clinton thinks Ned Lamont did a fabulous job in Connecticut," Wolfson said, referring to Lamont's stunning upset victory over Sen. Joe Lieberman in the state's Democratic primary.

No he hasn't. In fact, he just deflected an effort by Democrats to have him thrown off the party rolls.
Why would anybody, especially Jews, support anybody that would abandon Israel and sometimes even openly support Israel's enemies? The Israel issue alone should make Lieberman and all Jews question why they ever were democrats.
"Assume he's a crook. Then assume he's a politican. But I repeat myself." Or something along those lines. But I also like Will Rogers: "Every time we have an election, we get in worse men and the country keeps right on going. Times have proven only one thing, and that is you can't ruin this country even with politics."
That's incorrect. Connecticut law **FORBIDS** two people from the same Party running against each other in the General Election.
That's why they hold *primary* elections.
Moreover, Connecticut law forbids Lieberman from switching *back* to the Democratic Party now that he's filed to run in the general election as an Independent (for no fewer than 6 months after the November election).
You should be ashamed for posting to the contrary, by the way.
Ashamed.
Yes, Joe has upset the senatrix's plans. Good thing he understands terrorism as it will help him greatly in the vigilence department.
That question is excellent.
I have no idea. I wish that I did.
"The Israel issue alone should make Lieberman and all Jews question why they ever were democrats."
A lot (most?) of the Jews who vote Dem are secular - don't observe, don't care about Israel.
LOL
can't say they don't deserve that...
Bingo.
The Dems will have themselves their very own Jumpin' Jim Jeffords and it won't matter a whit if he 'caucuses' with them or not. He'll still be an Independent.
