"Commerce among the States, cannot stop at the external boundary line of each State, but may be introduced into the interior."

But it doesn't follow that all commerce in the interior of a state falls under commerce among the states. A chain of commercial transactions that begins and ends in a single state and never crosses its border is not commerce among the states.

When I was twenty-nothing I was of the opinion that you are....I have since grown out of that phase and have come to realize that I was wrong.

If that's the strongest argument against legalization, bring it on.

Sorry, the burden is on the dopers to change the law.

I want addicts to be able to seek treatment without being dissuaded by the fear of criminal prosecution. And if they don't want to seek treatment, I want them to be able to buy their fix by collecting soda cans from the garbage or begging for spare change like the drunk bums do, instead of by stealing $100 a pop from me and my neighbors and enriching a criminal syndicate. And if they are bound for the grave, I want them to die quietly from an overdose under a bridge like the drunk bums do, instead of forcing me to kill them in defense of myself and my family during a robbery or a hot burglary.

May very well be the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard. I especially like the soda can collecting. That is without question the most asinine assertion I have seen or heard to date. You seem to think that when drugs are legal that they will be cheap, and that the tax revenues generated will pay for the treatment programs, and all the other social ills to be visited upon us as a society. You cannot be more wrong.

I may have my fingers in my ears but it sure beats having my hands over my eyes, which you clearly have. One cannot reason with drunks or stupidity. Since I cannot verify the former, you have indeed proved the latter.

So after one failed attempt to argue in support of your position, your fingers go right back in your ears and you start shouting? Sad.

the burden is on the dopers [supporters of liberty] to change the law.

As a practical matter that's true ... and if the opponents of liberty have only tissue-thin arguments to meet those of supporters, the latter will win.

Of course they will ... that's basic economics.

and that the tax revenues generated will pay for the treatment programs, and all the other social ills to be visited upon us as a society.

Straw men. Nothing in the text you quoted implies any of that ... it doesn't even mention taxes.

"Of course they will ... that's basic economics."

Tax free medical marijuana in the states that have legalized its use is more expensive than illegal marijuana available on the streets.

Legal, government-supplied, tax free medical marijuana in Canada is more expensive than illegal marijuana available here.

Legal tax free recreational marijuana available in coffee shops in Amsterdam is more expensive than illegal marijuana available here.

Other than your libertarian "theory", what makes you think that legal, regulated, and taxed marijuana will be cheaper than it is today? And what makes you think our society wants it to be cheaper?

The latter (the dopers) have lost repeatedly.

Legal-for-a-small-subset is not legal.

Illegal to produce, hence not legal.

Drag your red herrings somewhere else.

Other than your libertarian "theory"

Supply and demand is much more than 'libertarian "theory"', as real conservatives know.

All fifty states have laws against dope. "Dope equals liberty" doesn't seem to have caught on.

Mojove, paraphrased:

'All fifty states have laws infringing against our RKBA's. "Guns equals liberty" doesn't seem to have caught on.'

I've had enough of your "gotcha" games. I think you are profoundly misguided and without question... WRONG. Your counter arguments are specious and dilluded.

To continue to debate you on this issue has gotten tedious.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to change the error of your thinking and I know you are for damned sure not going to change mine. And as I pointed out to you earlier, the majority of the VOTING public see things as I do. They would consider you an ill-informed crackpot as do I.

Good luck....you're going to need it.

Your counter arguments are specious and dilluded [sic].

You keep claiming that and not demonstrating it. Typical Drug Warrior tactics.

And as I pointed out to you earlier, the majority of the VOTING public see things as I do.

And as I pointed out to you earlier, if only one side has any facts or logic to present, I'm confident that many opinions will change.
