Actually, athiests are in the minority in the West, as numerous studies have shown. Unchurched people are another matter, but even they are running on the fumes of left-over Christianity.
In any case, to a Muslim, atheism means not accepting "Allah" and his false "prophet," Mad Mo. Looking at the two societies, Islamic and atheisti" Western, I'll take atheism any day - and I say this as a Catholic. Which of course I could not be in any Mad Mo society.

But --anybody can say what he said. In his own way, Mahmoud probably believes what he said. But knowing that outfit he is in charge of, and knowing what it has done and what it is capable of doing, do you really think Mahmoud's simple, pious solution is going to bring results that are satisfying to you?
He's going to have to do a lot more than talk before I'm going to even think about accepting him as a man of principle and goodwill, or give any credence to his advice. A lot more.

I'd say the use of the word "atheism" is a misnomer here. This is just another call to Allah.
